Spring Fling '13 @ Green .... head count & item procurement post

Well ... the poll is closed, and April 27th is the date chosen. So, now on to the listing of attending members & what they're bringing to the "dance" :

Chucky - cooking supplies
"Pappy" - fish transport/breading bowls - picnic shelter fee - Hushpuppies

I'll let the rest of you post, & add them to the list as we go along.


Some items to consider:

French Fries
Salt/Pepper & Ketchup
Paper Plates & plastic forks/spoons & napkins
Other side dishes &/or desserts
Ice cold pop

And there are some other items I have not mentioned, but expect certain members will volunteer to bring (again) like they did last time.

And, once again, may I remind ya'll .... you DON'T have to bring anything to attend this event.

I will bring the salt,pepper and ketchup. There will be 2 of us. Had a great time last year.

paper plates forks spoons cups napkins and a small cooler of pop, but it probably won't hold enough for everyone.
I'll be there if the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise. The wife said tornado warnings will cancel the trip also.:Rofl

Pappy I will bring some coleslaw and fillet knives. They prob be 3 of us. Cant wait to see everybody.:fish

I'll bring a batch of homemade candy. Be two of us. Can't wait have such a great time,be good to see everyone again.

I would hope that someone would have a set of scales, or a balance beam, so we can determine Big Fish winner. There's a nice prize being donated for Biggest Fish caught (during the event !!)

Just a note :

There looks to be ~ 20 people currently stating their intent to attend the event. I suspect there will be more to come. With that in mind, anyone who would like to donate something to the Fish Fry, can still do so ... even if it's more of what has already been listed. (like French Fries, Hushpuppies, desserts, etc.) Again, let me say that it is not necessary to bring anything in order to attend this event. But, if you do want to contribute ... then you can share in the expense with those that have already volunteered to bring those items. The closer we get to the event, the better idea we will have as to how many people will be attending ... and how many we'll be feeding.

Things that we won't need anyone to volunteer to bring .... ice & drinks. Ice is available at the Marina. Drinks are such a personal choice, that it would be hard for any one person to cover all the possibilities. So, with that in mind ... bring your own drinks. And, if you don't mind sharing yours, you can always bring your cooler to the picnic shelter ... or if you have some that are not on ice, we'll have cups & ice available.

Hate I'm gonna miss this year guys. The wife is running a half marathon in Louisville that Saturday and I promised I'd go to cheer her on. Im sure this means you will all limit out with 14" crappie. Lol. Y'all have fun!

Looks like we may have another pretty good sized group of people attending ... so, just a reminder to those bringing items for the Fish Fry : gauge how much you bring by the number of people confirming they will attend, & then add 10 people. And remember, these boys & girls are gonna be HUNGRY after a hard day's fishing !!

Correct !! .... We'd rather people not bring/drink alcoholic beverages during the event. Once the event is over, or if you're staying in one of the cabins (or camping, if the campsites are open), then we have no objection to you drinking, there.
Also of note : both counties that Green River Lake is in are dry counties, and there's a no open container law (on the lake).

I have come in lately on this. Where exactly is the location? I recall you all doing it last year and sounded like a lot of fun. I just had to much going on and was trying to get a boat going. I got that taken care of this year and was thinking of maybe trying to make down and met a few folks. Might try and get a nephew or two that love to fish to come down with me. So where is it exactly and what time are things happening. Sorry if it was posted before, but I missed it in this thread when I was looking back over it.

Ray ... the date is April 27th
The location is Holmes Bend Marina ( http://www.holmesbendresort.com/location.html ) on Green River Lake.
The start time for fishing hasn't been set in stone, yet ... but will likely be around 7AM Central Daylight Time ... in order to give everyone a chance to get their boats launched & do some meet & greet chatting & such. Fishing will conclude around 1PM, and catches will be brought back to the Marina's fish cleaning room, where they'll be processed & transported up to the picnic shelter. Chucky will have all the fryers heated up & ready to start cooking shortly afterwards.

If you do not have a GPS in your vehicle ... use Mapquest & print out the route details.

The wife & I will not make it this year, we just recently bought house at Rough River and I am sure we will be there. Take a bunch of pictures Pappy and post them please,and hope everyone catches their limit. We will miss a good time that is for sure.

Hey cp My son and I are planning on coming. We will be bringing two peach cobblers and some reynolds wrap. Thinking about meeting up with you on the Friday before and do a little scouting trip, staying overnight and fishing the event the next day. Hope to see you there if no bad luck.
