I just had to get the carb on my motor rebuilt, they said it was because of the ethanol in the gas now. Does anyone know where you can get real gas around the cabot area?

Barco's has it, but its hard to catch them open. I get mine at BP on Tonyville Rd in Jacksonville. I usually just stop by there on my way to Conway.

Folks... Prolly gona make some more folks mad! Go figure...
Every time I put my boat on the trailer I pull the fuel line off and run the gas out..
I have no problem with my motor..
Carb wise anyways...
Folks use the term "Rebuilt Carb" loosely... 99.9999% of carbs need cleaned not rebuilt..
All parts are aluminum, brass, maybe a plastic float, and a rubber needle valve..
The ethanol MIGHT make that rubber tip on the needle valve hard and not seal eventually... But that is the only harm I see possible..
The problem here is folks leaving a bowl full of gas in the carb which is a bad deal !
I have found that the gas in my primer bubble starts to stink after a few days of sitting in the sun..
Gas deteriorates very fast!
I run the gas out of the fuel line before letting it sit for weeks at a time as well as the carbs. But, you gotta pull the fuel line from the tank and push the ball bearing in on that end of the line (otherwise the fuel pump cant pull that fuel out). But, I've had to replace fuel line connectors at least once a year cause the little O ring that centers the ball bearing weakens and will leak. Then you really need to keep the valve on the tank snugged up when you're not using it. Otherwise, it will breathe in and breathe out several times a day and every time it breathes in, its pulling in moisture (humidity at that time) in.
Carbs are different as far as rubber parts. On some there is a rubber cap on top of the emulsification tube that weakens (from exposure to oxygen and fuel) and will cause a wide open throttle miss almost like you have too large of a main jet.
Cant do that on 4 strokes. Best to use stabil in your gas. I never run mine out and never have a problem since using stabil. In my 2 stroke i would run my gas out but still used stabil.
they are hard to find but i believe most sinclair gas stations run 100%gas (atleast the ones in the conway area do. Throw some seafoam in there as well, it will burn everything out of there
Thanks for the input, I do run mine out of gas each time I put it on the trailer the fact is that ethanol speeds the deterioration of plastic and rubber components and it causes problems. I just would rather use good gas hopefully avoid future problems.
Running the gas out of the carb works fine if you only have 1 carb but if your motor has 2 carbs the top one will run out of gas before the bottom one then your top cylinder will be moving with no oil

Ethanol will cause the rubber hose between the fuel tank and motor to deteriorate and all that rubber goes into the carb. They call it a rebuild but most of the time its just a cleaning. I use stabil and ethanol free.
They make a hose for ethanol you can buy at boat stores but they are high dollar.
Dko everything is high dollar now lol. You price a new tank or hose 50-80 dollars. 3 x the old price. Ridiculous
It is ridiculous but I guess now its a necessary evil.
Not entirely accurate. I have clear tygon fuel lines on my 3 cylinder and can watch fuel leaving/coming into the pump. The fuel pump is attached to one carb (center carb on mine) and pumps it directly but there is only one fuel outlet for the other 2 which has a "t" that splits and provides fuel to the other 2 carbs.
They say that enathnol is bad to seperate over time and can cause problems. Most dealers recommend putting on a water seperater / filter on the gas line too.
Be sure to use BLUE Marine grade Stabil
Mozt any small bulk plant that supplies farmers will have ethanol free gas usually cost 10 cents more per gallon.
I use a fuel filter/seperator on mine and try to run it as often as possible. Never had a problem.
I only have a small 9.9 mercury, is there a seperator that I can put in the line from the tank?
T-ricks at 107 and the cut thru to 89 has no ethanol fuel
run my 50 yammie hard during duck season, sat for a month first fishin trip out she ran rough, no idle, wouldnt take throttle! dumped the water seperator, still rough!! dumped it 2 more times last time into a mason jar ________________ wow!!!!!!! if you have any water in the filter for very long it will rust up the bottom of the filter which in turn goes into the carbs quick and in a hurry!! new filter n pull n clean carbs ----- sweet runnin jewel again...... that is all
I do some outboard patch work in my spare time and DKO is exactly right. Ethanol doesn't hurt the carb itself. It deteriorates the fuel lines going to and in your motor which cause trash to get in your carb. Also if you let you boat set up for long periods of time with gas still in lines and carb it will begin to "gel". The best solution I have found in outboards that you cannot run the fuel out of ( especially fuel injected motors without a carb) is to add marine grade stabil every other tank. On my bass rig we have a Mercury 225 pro XS even though it doesn't have carb, ethanol will still break down fuel lines, rail...ect so direct injected outboards need this also. I am no expert this just my opinion from experience
In the NLR area I know that McSwain's Premium is no ethanol... it was ONLY $3.75 yesterday OUCH! :banghead
I always try and get non ethanol and put the marine stabil in every tank. I got tired of pulling the carb off my little motor
If you ever drive through the NLR area, you can take the Burns Park exit off of 40. There's a station at MacArthur and Military (camp Robinson entrance area) that sells non-ethanol gas. That's where I gas up. It's usually a little more than +.10 than other places, but I usually only get three gallons at a time.
Www.Pure-gas.org then click "Ar" list Cities, stations, that sell pure gas! You can add or delete stations if needed.
