That scares the heck out of me! Lol
Why?
I don't know, maybe because my mom was nearly killed when she was run over by a boat with a broken steering linkage.
Hey if your comfortable with it it's an awesome idea. I'd love to have a stick drive boat, I wouldn't ever have to get out of the seat.
cable steering used for 50 yrs ,before the new type sys.with a lot bigger motors.the cables are steel plastic coated
All the watermen I know have big crabbing boats have an oar with crab pot line rigged exactly like this. I dont blame ya for taking out the platform.
oh and the bigfoot switch for the TM is how mine is rigged. I love it. Leave it in forward at your fav speed, have bigfoot switch in momentary, just tap it when ya need it. Looks like a crappie catching machine to me!
thats a pretty ingenious design youve got there! good job!!!
pretty slick!

Hey, now that's pretty cool. My Ouachita originally came with a cable sterring system like that, but it actually had a wheel with a suicide knob on the side of the boat. Worked in 1973, should still work today.
Tons of boats here in Deltaville still have these steering systems. I recently went under my house and lifed the floor in my kitchen. I saw a 20+ yr old single cable stick steering,I left under house. I need to get it out and see if anyone here wants it. (if its not rusted up)
My old boat was set up for stick steering but have never rigged it. To me it would seem to not get on plane with someone up front.
Nice, neat looking job.
