Can't even play a radio. Love my bluegrass. Been to Galax fiddlers convention for the last 20 years give or take. Let me know if yall plan something
hahaha Same here on the bluegrass. I've been to Gold Hill a few times, but haven't brought the guitar with me yet. If you ever get a chance to go there are a bunch of guys that play in the summer on Friday nights.
I pick a little bluegrass banjo. I try to stick to the Scruggs/Crowe/Reno styles. I like to hear the instruments "say" the words to the songs. I'm just don't like the progressive stuff. Been to Galax a few times myself.
Yes sir can't beat the traditional music. That's one of the best parts about going trout fishing in the mountains...being able to pick up that Galax bluegrass station on the way up.
98.1 Galax
They play some good tunes Old and the new.
If yall see the Fish Hound on the water,
We will be at LKN social.
Hope to meet a few of yall
We will be listening to Del Mcoury to Jimmy Martin.
We have a jump drive on the radio with 8 hrs. of bluegrass.
Sweet, I don't fish Norman too much, so I probably won't be at that one. Probably be at the High Rock social though
so I guess no..Tony Rice, Bayla Fleck, Sam Moss, Pat Flynn, Johnny C..........not even a little New Grass??????
Guitar and mostly now , ukulele. Play about anything. 60s , 20s, blues, old timey, folk. Etc.
Maybe a little bit of new grass SIMPLEMAN, but traditional is still my favorite. If you like the new grass you would probably like bluegrass covers of some classic rock songs. They're all on youtube. Gitarzan that is cool. You must have a talent, I don't know if I could fit my fingers on those small frets.
Hey All,Havent been on here in a while so im late checkin in but im a picker.Im the mando player for the millstream band out of burlington nc.we play bluegrass and gospel.I do a lot of festivals and am on the board of the bluegrass assoc. We played the high falls fiddlers convention last nite in robbins and I won 3rd in mando competion, we always have a ball playin grass.I also run sound for lots of events mostly bluegrass related and conventions and stuff.
Digging up an old thread, I know, but thought'd I'd jump in here - I play a lot of guitar. Mostly acoustic, but I enjoy electric, too. I used to play a lot of bluegrass jams and some festivals, but haven't in a while. I like some of the traditional bluegrass, but I also like stuff like Bryan Sutton and Ron Block (known from the Alison Krauss band). But I like playing other kinds of music, too - really like blues and tex-mex/rock styles. Just found a new album the other day that I really like: Guthrie Trapp - Pick Peace
