Twain Summer Camp - 2013

As promised, this is the official thread for who's bringing what for the feast on that Saturday night. I'm guessing arrival times will be varied on Friday as it sounds as though some are planning on making it a long weekend and others might not be showing up until later in the day or evening. It's possible that the event will grow as we get closer with the MTL CrappieMasters tournament being held the following weekend...... might even see some of those Truman boys!

We are open to opinions on what will be the main course for Saturday night, but it seems as though the discussion was migrating towards a fish fry as Catman said he had a big fryer?

Feel free to just reply to this thread with what you are planning on bringing and I'll continue to edit my original post with updates.

No problem. Glad you all are gettin a camp together. Will check my calender and try to make it up myself.

Folks, should we fill up the "Puma" campground loop, there are also 2 other loops within this same campground, the" Badger" and "Coyote" are all within stumbling distance of each other. all have their own shower houses and such. playgrounds for the kids, paved roads for riding bicycles, swim beach and walking trails along the lake. If you prefer indoor plumbing, the Southfork resort is within a mile or so of the campgrounds. they are top notch folks there and that is also the nearest place to pick up some minnows. here are the links for ya'all. thank you, Rt U, for getting this thread together!

BTW, if ya'all want, I'll bring some of these to help fill the fish fryers! only in late may it will more than likely be flathead. plus my mom and my wife are both going to be baking up some goodness for the dinner. I will pack my electric roaster to keep food warm. and we are probably going to need some extra tables to set the food out on, I have a couple of card tables to bring along. we'll probably need a few more... :cheers2:cheers2

As Greg said, South Fork Resort is a great setup for overflow or more of a cabin experience. Their General Store/Bait Shop has all of the essentials and about a quarter mile up the road is South Fork ramp which gives you access to both South and Middle Forks, depending on where the bite is. Also, just up the road is Route U boat ramp, which will put you into the North Fork with easy access to the main lake.

I think i have an extra table. Im bringing probably deer roast or something like that and my girls will make some deserts. I also have an electric roaster i can bring for warming/keeping warm.

Couple of coolers with iced down bottled water and asst. of soda. Few bottles of ketchup and tartar sauce. Route U can we drop these off with you on Friday or should we wait and bring to fish fry.

We'll bring a 5 gallon jug of iced tea, a vegetable dish, and a cake of some sort. I also have a folding table (4x8 or something like that) that I can bring if you need another........in fact, I'll just plan on bringing it just in case, if we don't need it I'll keep it in the truck.

Honestly, I'm up in the air about it. Catman suggested the bugers/brats/dogs route and I'm totally game with that.......not sure how many people we'll have but that might be an easier option, less mess, and more time to relax and bs because undoubtedly someone always ends up spending their night behind a fryer.

I'd like to hear from everyone else on it, but I might be leaning towards firing up a couple grills.

Hail Call to South Point! Do the campsites/cabins all have grills? Are they mobile so we can all convene @ 1 location?

off the top of my head, I don't remember grills at each campsite other than the grill on the fire rings that are at each site. I checked the website and can't find any info regarding BBQ grills. I can call the office tomorrow and find out if there are any at all. I can easily pack my Weber and will have a small propane grill with me anyway, so that's fine with me if that's what every one wants to do. it would surely be faster and easier. Man, I could go for a brat and a brewski right about now!:biggrin

and 75 degree weather and a cardinal game!:biggrin

Whatever way fish or brats measure em and I are in. And whatever we can do to assist maybe a meet and greet friday evening to figure things out?

Let me know what you end up doing Greg...... the way the lake is acting right now it's going to take a while to calm down, so that is going to be a dandy week to catch some feesh. I might have to take a few days prior to the weekend as it appears I might be having to head back to town that Saturday morning, but I'm trying like hell to get out of it.

Heck, if people are up to it, we could always have a little gathering/bs session at my cabin as people get off the water.

hooray!!! I got the week off work.... one step closer to a real vacation!! now it's just a matter of if my daughter is coming with me or coming up with my wife and mom... either way I'm gonna be there by wed morning at the latest... might be sooner if I sweet talk the wife a little:biggrin.

Me (Mark), my wife (Barb), my sister-in-law (Nancy), and her husand (Dale) ,who is my fishing partner, will be there Friday and Saturday. Dale and I hope to get there early Friday and the girls in the afternoon. We will be bring a crock pot of sweet and sour green beans and some burgers and brauts.
