Aite, I talked to Goodtime and found out what really happened
It seems Rees was headed home from the tourney and decided to stop at the bomb barn even though Goodtime reminded him the drive is made of gravel and sho nuff, he rand over a rock with one of them maypops and had another flat. Well, he was flat broke and busted and no way to get home.
Goodtime suggested they walk over to WBs and borrow a spare. Rees said he ha a better idea and to wait there.
When he got back to the truck:
GT: was he home? Did ya get the spare?
RG: naw, but I got sumpn better
GT: what?
RG: WB wasn't home so I took conned his wife and children into giving me $10.
GT: $10?!?! You know where you get your tires only charges $4 each and that's with the rim. You ought to be ashamed.
RG: I know, but I figure we're bound to have another blow out between here and there and we can use the left over for gas money.
GT: That ain't rite.
RG: Hush up and lift the back of this truck up.

Too late Rees, Goodtime has turned state's evidence and has struck a deal with the prosecution. He would be going into witness protection, but there ain't no point. You can hide a fella what looks like that.
