Heading to the BPS tomorrow to buy a Hummingbird SI. I am going to install it on a pro team 190. How much of a pain are these to install and learn to use??? I am hoping to be fishing within the next few days.

I bought a HB998 SI and just got it hooked up. I will say I have not even messed with the settings very much. It was only my second time using it Saturday and it showed me very nice pictures of cover, baitfish and fish. I longline trolled and the unit helped me determine exactly where I would catch crappie.
Here are some good starter tutorials for SI....(Doug does a really good job)...

I also going to order my 998 from him when he gets back.
Long range weather in my neck of the woods doesnt look good for a couple of weeks anyway.
HB's are so easy to learn, not much thinking involved. :cheers2
Get with Brian at BBG Marine BBG Marine Electronics - BBG Marine Electronics
or David at Shut up and Fish Marine Electronics & Boating Accessories
both will save you some money over BPS and you shoulld get it in 2 or 3 days if not sooner
Brian's number is 888 570 0916.
Maybe he has a military discount also. You will like his prices compared to MSRP.
Just paid BBG for one, price was a lot better. Got the lake master card to go a long with it too.
Anyone in the area want to help me learn how to use it now....

Sorry, can't help ya out. Maybe one of the local guys in your area can chime in.
Might just wanna get out there and mash buttons. You can always restore defaults if you feel like it is out of whack.
Reading the manual, and using the unit is the best advice anyone can give you. Time on the water, and knowledge about your device will take you all the way.
Enjoy it. Lots of good youtube videos out there that will help with the learning curve. Did for me. Also alot of time in simulator mode sitting in the garage.
Yeah that is kinda what I was thinking too.

Grats hines on your new unit
as far as learning your new unit check out you tube and sit in the garage and play with the simulator
I went to HB web site and downloaded all the different manuals for my unit and the GPS puck to my laptop and every night when I go to bed I read for an hr, every morn all I think about is the HB systems when I'm up lol
again Grats sir
Grats also on your new unit.
Ordering 998c SI monday from BBG also.
I live about hour from BPS where i started looking at HB SI units. I have watched several hours of video on bassboatcentral.com by Doug V They are very helpful.
They have Thread dedicated just for it.
After watching them I went back to BPS on week day when they werent busy and played with their 798,898,998 and 1198 models on display a couple different times.
After videos and BPS outings i found the HB units very easy to use.
Ready to get mine and get it on the water! Now if this darn weather would cooperate where i live. :fish
Doug V on BBC is a big help, even if he is a Bass fisherman. LOL A great guy.
