Does anyone have good way to filter your used oil? I have tried several different things but have not had good luck with it. With the cost of peanut oil I try to get as many uses as possible. Thanks

Ok.. First off ditch the Peanut Oil and check out Rice Bran oil!
It gets hotter than peanut oil and taste better than vegetable oil!
I use a Cajun Fryer, it has a drain valve.
I purchased a funnel and filters from Gander Mtn. Works GREAT! I just filter it back into my jugs. I have used oil regularly for over 2 years!
In a cast iron dutch oven I will take a NEW dress sock and line a mason jar and filter it through the sock.
Hope this helps!
I use a colander lined with paper towels, placed over a stockpot. I feel like hot oil filters easier, and don't want to put the hot oil into plastic.
Forget all the straining. I use a fry daddy. I use peanut oil. When I am done cooking, I drop 2 slices of cheese in the oil while it is still hot. you will notice it appears to sink to the bottom, while hole. In a few seconds the oil will begin to boil really hard. It will boil for a few seconds. take a large spoon and skim the top of the oil. All of the batter that has fallen off of the fish will be stuck to the melted cheese and will float to the top. you are now ready for the next fish cook out.
womans panty hose anda funell works great! strech hose over funell and pour gets it clean!
Use paint filters from an auto paint store. Works really good. Put some cheese cloth in it and it's great. But I am going to try the cheese thing.
I use the cheapest vegetable oil I can buy. As far as straining....I bust the end of the bottle off on the edge of the bar and strain it through my teeth :biggrin
A word of caution. Make certain she is not wearing the panty hose!
I use Canola Oil strain it through a wire mesh screen. Would like to make a setup to use a better filter.
I use paint strainers i get from sherman willains.. There about a buck.. There bigger then the paint straners u get from a auto parts store..
I picked up a mesh strainer that goes into your sink drain at Walmart for about $1. I put the strainer inside my funnel and pour the oil directly back into the jug.
coffee filters. same as we use in the bunn . slow but works great .:ThumbsUp
Use a large funnel and filters from Bass Pro. Never tried the cheese trick. Will have to give it a go.
i just bought a t fal fryer strains the oil and stores it in a container automaticlly when it cools off
I have a T-Fal fryer with a basket that raises. I let oil cool then pour into large coffee container through a wire strainer (this is optional). I line the basket with a paper towel then pour the oil through that. Discard paper towel.
I use the wire mesh strainer with small funnel inside and into a mason jar good for at least four uses, also add fresh oil when needed. Use a slice or two of fresh potatoes when frying fish it helps to keep the oil clear and from burning.
Frydaddy. Put the lid on it and store in the refrigerator. Oil starts to get too dark and full of fish breader, dump it and get fresh oil. I usually use it at least a dozen times before I replace it. Usually fry fish 3 times a month.
Ever heard of using a sterile, kidney stone filter to strain fish oil. It is clean, sterile, and works quite well, just dont tell the wife, she may freak out.
Been watching to many Eastwood movies
Reply: Well using the strainer works for me. Some guys use an auto paint strainer, but the stone filter is clean and sterile.
Try it it works quite well.
coffee filters work also
I use a wire mesh colander then cut a piece of cheese cloth big enough to double over. Place the doubled cheese cloth in the colander and pour the oil through it. It drains fast and cleans it well.
