Lowrance StructureScan Transducer Location

Im ready to get me a StructureScan unit and was wondering about mounting the transducer. The Gen 2 units have a longer transducer and I want to mount it to the transom. With that being said, how will the transducer "see" through the lower unit when it is down? Should I be thinking of mounting it somewhere else. I dont want it on the trolling motor if at all possible. Its going on an 18 ft. G3. Thanks Billy

It is sonar not X-ray. You will have to have to trim your motor and/or/must mount it so not to block the path of sound in either any direction relative to the transducer. No easy task. Google up LSS2 transducer mounting and see what you get.

This feller is mounting his on the "step" of the transom. The transducer would be mounted in reverse, but you can flip the mounting position in the software. Wilbur has his reverse mounted.

I was wondering the same thing when I mounted mine, but I went ahead and done it anyway and I can't tell that it hurt it. Like Cane Pole said, if u trim your motor up a little you shouldn't have a problem.

Remember, you can mount this transducer in either direction just in case that comes into play because of the cable.

Here is how mine is mounted on my 1860. The motor doesn't interfere at all.

I would strongly consider using a transducer board. That way if need to move the transducer new holes in the boat don`t need to be drilled. Gives the set up more flexibility.

I have mine mounted like carpkiller on a 1754 war eagle and it seems to work good.
