Read the article over again and it mentioned they sell them at a gas station in maurice. Gunna check tomorrow. Here is a pic of the jigs, looks alot like the old stumpy bayou jigs. I would tear up the sacalait and bream on these jigs before I ran out.
[Sac-a-lait love Poppa Chop Jigs - Louisiana Sportsman
a site about the poppa chop jigs with a phone number

Almost 400 views but nobody knows anything? Either they aren't well known or everyone trying to keep it quiet. Knowing sacalait fishermen I would bet on the latter.
Hey RM,
I've got a box full of hair jigs. Don't use em much. Tubes is what I like. I'm sure they catch fish but with only two retail outlets I doubt many folks fish em. JMO
Actually they look like marabou and not so much hair? If marabou I don't doubt they catch fish as I use marabou almost all the time in spring, at least 95% of the time. I have also noticed lots of people say hair jigs even when talking about feathers. Not sure why, but they do.
Skip, that article in the La. Sportsman says they're tied with calf hair. Not sure if they mean kip tails or something else.

JR, I'm more of a plastic man myself although I do tie and use some Marabou jigs with great success. On my last trip out that I posted pictures of, all mine were caught on a orange head, black chennel body, blue marabou tail. Marabou really has some great action even at rest which is great when they want a slow presentation.

That would be kip tail, but that pic looks like it's too long for Kip tail except for the end of each tail. I do tie a lot of Kip Tail Jigs for guys in South Louisiana and they do catch crappie!
I have a lot of Fox tails and that should work too, plus it would have more action than Kip.
Old thread but today a friend sent me a fresh article in Tech Life on the couple that make the Popp Chop. It's the June 2, 2013 edition. This friend is really good as he sent me 10 of the jigs to try.
I wonder if the guy that makes them is on CDC.
Skip, we don't all have jig part intellect like you, but thanks for teaching us. Always good to learn. I compare calling them all hair jigs to calling all soft drinks coke. Danny
Wow I opened a can of worm on this topic I'm just looking for the jigs for a old guy who says ivy tackle box dont have them anymore and he swears by them so I told him I help find him some

This is an old thread. Just trying to help out.
This might be an old thread but I keep wondering what KIP is suppose to be --- at the Tackle shop those Bleached, Dyed Squirrel tails don't say Dead Gray Squirrel or Prairie Dog.
