I believe in at least three days of pre fishing...and returning the fish, leave that spot alone till game time if you caught a few good ones off it Main thing is dont burn em up.. Catch at least two good ones...return them...keep a secret and return at game time. It will pay off for ya...
We used to catch fish to be tagged in the old Crappiethon days, and some were caught within a day or two of release, some close to the release site, and some 5 miles away. It depends on the amount if stress the fish goes through before release. JMO tho.

One neighbor accused us of sore lipping all the Crappie one summer on a certain spot. We would catch 100 to 200 jiggin every morning and keep a limit. He said most of what he caught had hook marks in their mouth.
In the bass fishing world of tournaments, the order of business is to find your fish for the tournament a few days before the tournament, then do so home work and find a back up plan, then you defense fish, fish as many of your opponents spots as you can the day before the tournament and relocate the fish so that your opponents fish are beaten and battered and relocated as far away from their spot as possible. That's just the way it works in the bass fishing world. Of course this is as long as time permits you to.
bill wants to catch them all on friday so we don't catch many on tour. day !!! lol all jokes aside david i don't like to fish my best spots the day before the tour.. find them on thursday and catch on saturday !!!!!!!!1
Well if you catch 7 the day before at taylorbay I think you should win the tourney just on that alone!! Lol white bass no problem keeper crappie........ When ur gambling ur gambling
good luck on taylor bay. it was muddy sat, rain today and scheduled to rain next thursday as well........
Hopefully water conditions will get better over there. Maybe we can all catch atleast 7
I think pre fishing should not be allowed in any tr'ment, should not be on the water no less then three weeks before t'day.

I don't think there ought to be tournaments! rotfl
So, the next one could be on your local lake.
A person fishing t' ments should be good enough to catch nomatter what lake without pre fishing them.Plus I think all whistles and bells should be unhooked and not allowed,a map of the lake should be the only thing allowed.
.
Beening good is not the point its the knowledge one has to prove who is better.High tec stuff and pre fishing to win whats so great about that.May as will have the t's in a bathtub....
It really just boils down to fishing technique......and that takes experience, period. Ten boats can be fishing the exact same spot using the same baits, speed, ect and one or two of those boats will be catching 80% of the fish, regardless who has the biggest fishfinder, biggest boat, longest rods, ect!!!!! I've seen it too many times not to believe that it is "technique" that puts fish in the boat! In a tourney everyone is on a level playing field...NO EXCUSES!! The absolute best crappie fisherman I know fishes out of a 1648 commercial F&F with tillar outboard and uses rod holders he homemade out of welding rods. He has five fully rigged boats including a 20 footer but that is what he chooses to fish out of 90% of the time. He does not use a depth finder.....he has fished every lake on the MS river from Whittington on down to N. Louisiana so many times that he could draw you a very detailed topo of any one of them. I am glad he doesn't fish tourney's cause if he did I wouldn't even bother to enter any event on Lake Washington...... that's one of the lakes where he taught me what tiny bit I know about trolling techniques........you will never see him near a crowd of boats....he'll be the lone boat 4-500 yds away in the middle steadily pullin'em in, cullin'em and pilin'em up.
Never caught one on a whistle or bell might have to try that
Guys who travel to strange waters to fish tourneys are at a severe disadvantage...thus prefishing helps even up the odds for the visiting teams especially. If it was not for being allowed to prefish. I know my weights would suffer even moreso than they have. I love prefishing just never know when you may find the motherload before a big tourney and its fun getting to know your competitors on the water.
