I've been all over there site and haven't found them.
Yep, they had on their web site they going to make one for HDS gen1 before it released then kept getting delayed then finally nothing.
That's too bad. They were a great wintertime learning tool.
I learned how to use mine by hooking it up to a 12 volt power supply in the comfort of my shop.
Did the same, here in my apt. 12V portable jumper battery !!
Lowrance still has emulators, but just not for all available products : Product Emulators - LOWRANCE | Marine Electronics
I used the emulator for the Elite 5 series of units, back when they had it ... but it contained menu & capability items that my Elite 5DSI unit did not have. Realizing that it was an "all in one" deal, I deleted the emulator & went to using the jumper battery ... just so I'd know exactly what my particular unit was (& was not) capable of doing.
I also went on Lowrance's site & printed off a copy of the E5DSI Operations Manual, as the little booklet that came with the unit was basically useless for anything besides mounting instructions.

Thanks Crappiepappy. Your the man.
That was the route I was going to take also. After looking around for a power cable I decided not to spend that much money to practice.
Also, it takes a ton of work to pull the power cable from my boat. I'm trying to find an emulator close to my HDS5.
Someone on this board must have enough pull with Lowrance to get some new emulators up and running.
CP, how did you hook your Elite 5 to a portable battery? Did you buy an extra power cable? If so where & how much? Or can you just hook power directly to the pins? I would love to be able to play with my unit in the house, since my boat us stored in an unheated structure about 3 mi away from my house. Thanks,WW.
Hears the best deal I've found. If they fit the elete.
Lowrance Power Cable
Like I said, I use mine with a 12 volt power supply. Made two small cables with small alligator clips, it's cheap.
Lowrance doesn't spend much money on user manuals or teaching software. It's pretty much figure it out yourself.
I can tell you that the elite-7 and HDS manuals are plenty beefy and covers features well.
I agree with you, except.
What the heck is a alligator clip? ( I know but someone else may not)
Where would I connect the alligators clip into the back of a graph with no wires? In a alligators butt?
I believe the question is about a power cable. Unless I'm reading it wrong.
Making 'pins' is for someone that knows a little about tracing colors on a plug and being able to locate then in realtion to the plug guide slot. (not sure if thats the correct termonoligy)
Key here is, DO NOT JUST PLUG INTO ANY PIN SLOT!!!
I did that once and had to marry her.nonono
I said two alligator clips with cables (small gauge wire). To make it easy, don't worry about the the color of wires. The female power/transducer connection for the unit has pin slot holes in it. Using your multi-meter, find the 12 volt power supply and the ground and you're done. Once you know the location of the power supply from the connection, then you know which pins to jump with the alligator clips. I don't know how to describe to you guys what a alligator clip is.
WW ... when I bought the unit from a site member, it came with two separate power/tdx cables. One brand new & one "used" (but only a short time). I think he had purchased the unit, had trouble with it, sent the head unit in for repair ... and got a whole new system in return. In the meantime, another unit was purchased ... and the new unit & transducer/power cable, the "used" tdx/power cable, the transom mount hardware, and a TM mount sleeve was included in the deal.
You would have to buy a power/tdx cable, to be able to "use" the unit when it wasn't on the boat. This cable seems to run around the $70-$100 range (new) wherever sold :
This is the cheapest I found:
Lowrance TM Transducer f/DSI w/Temp
The only one I found on eBay was asking $82 : Lowrance DSi Transducer with Temp for Elite 5 DSi Elite 5X DSi Mark 5X DSi 42194534855 | eBay
And this one, at a "outlet" store ... @ $96 : Lowrance Transom Mount Transducers
The Elite 5 DSI has a single cable system (power cable & transducer/water temp all in one), which is probably why it's so expensive. Personally, I'm not sure I would have dropped another $70+ just to be able to "play with the unit in the house" ... but, that's just me.
