Nice looking baits. Looks like you are ready to go!
Most of the lakes around here are 60% open water, 40% ice. Mid to upper 40's and plenty of sun, it won't be too much longer...
thanks. up here iceout isnt until atleast march
Pretty much 100% open water around here - not to rub it in or anything:)
haha
Nice baits
Great looking flies
Great looking flies. All open water around here now too. Seeing a few boats on the water.
Those ought to do the trick. Some very good looking flies.
Nice looking work!
Mike, do you fish those baits with a fly rod?
thanks guys.
hatcketjack, yup all for the flyrod, the jigs are all 1/100oz, i just let them sink a bit and strip them back.
can't wait to see pictures of the fish you catch with those bugs. They really look good, I am not much with a flyrob, but it sure looks like fun.
Great looking flies, the fish won't stand a chance when they see those.
wonder how they would work down south in TN?? hint hint . very nice work
nice lookin ties! where i am waters are probly open or maybe a little bit of ice.here in southern nj,ice never seems to get thick and stay thick and safe enough to walk out on much.i hate the cold and winter, but i wish it would either stay cold and freeze over and get safe to walk on,or get warm and stay warm lol.been tying a lot lately myself, and built some metal "junk yard specials" for throwin at snappers in the summer.spring can't come soon enough, need it here now already!
nice looking baits the Gills hould wear you out :biggrin
Nice job Mike. These long NY winters sure do put a cramp in my fishing. The bluegill and jack perch should be moving into the boat marina soon. can't wait.
thanks. haha i know what you mean, hopefully its a quick warm up.
Nice looking flies. I'm going to try for some bluegills this spring with the fly rod for the first time.
thanks. be careful fly fishing for gills, its insanely addictive. haha.
I noticed last week in Wally World they had a pretty nice looking Fly Rob combo for sale. I think it was a Martin brand?
I'm sure from the price it was entry level, but it might be enough to get a taste and see if one has a appetite. :fish
I might have to take a bit myself...
Are these patterns that you tie yourself? If they are, what are the components and pattern?
They all look great. I would love to try ant tie these myself. I am looking for some bluegill
patterns to add to my hand tied crappie jigs.
Thanks so much for sharing.
SlabGitR, theyre all ones i tied myself. really easy if you know the basics from tying crappie jigs. the bees are chenille a wraped neck hackle a small bead and red krystal flash for a tag. the wooly worms are chenille a krystal flash tag could use marabou hackle or hair also mostly red for the color and i use a dry fly hackle. i have a couple vids up if you wanna check them out.
