guess no info if I need the lss1 or 2 or if I need the other network thing or even if they will work together or if I need to upgrade the 332c to maybe the elite 7 or what
I would think what you need or even want is really up to you and how much money you want to spend.
I never understand these posts from guys asking where do I go from here.
(no offense intended)
I would think that the reason to buy a HDS unit in the 1st place was because you were going expand on a system by adding LSS plus a 2nd or even 3rd HD unit. The whole HDS system screams "add to me"(via ethernet). I do like the DI units but if I had to pick one of the 2, I would go HDS all the way. Having units fore and aft linked together is just way to cool, fun and useful.
If you had a plan....why ask now? If you didn't have a plan, why buy HDS? I don't get it.
Just sayin!
Be patient ...they'll probably be some more Lowrance guys along soon....
They may all be out fishing....

The boat already had the hds 5 on the console and I already had the 332. That was my reason for asking if I was starting from scratch I am sure I would have used the hds on the front and back both. That's why I was asking for options on what I could or should do. I may upgrade from the old 332 and get a new hds maybe a 7 but that's why I am asking
Okay, that makes sense.
Well if you can't tell already I would definitely expand on the HDS system. I have Gen 1 and have no regrets at all, a 7 up front an 8 on console. Being able to have 1 system and mark waypoints from both back and front of boat is a hoot. Buy the biggest screens you can afford, no such thing as too big.
Have fun with it.
So if I add the lss2 to my hds5 it will have side scan but that about what $500. Then add a 7 or 8 hrs because font think I can swing a 10. Then will both show the same thing at the same time Maybe a sums question but the tech world is slipping by pretty fast for this old man
I don't want to hijack this thread. But I just posted this thread a little while ago.
Quite similar. Maybe we can both be assisted.

I know that old man feeling, I turned 61 in November. I bought my 1st unit & LSS right after I turned 60, it was my present to me. I bought the second unit because I got tired of jumping out of the front seat to look at the DF on the console or spinning around to see it if I faced it forward in the mount. These units do have a learning curve but the really aren't too bad once you figure them out a little bit. I'm not really the techy type but once I get something I do like to figure it out and see what it does. I have a loooong learning curve.
Even though they show the same thing the one on the console is great while scanning areas with side scan or even DI or 2d using the outboard. If you see a spot, you just mark it with a waypoint. When you go to the bow, your spot you marked is on that unit too so you just move the boat over to it and start fishing.
One thing about the hds units is they are very visible in sunlight.
One reason I bought this stuff now, is I'm still working. A couple more years and I'm done, time to play.
Well I guess I know what I am going to do with my bonus check I get in march. Starting with a LSS unit.
A friend of mine bought a HDS5 a couple of years back. He only wanted the 2d until he got in my boat saw my unit with the LSS1 and the GPS. I had the screen split 3 ways, SI/DI/GPS.
He loved it and went home and ordered the LSS1 for his boat. He normally shy's away from anything electronic but he was eager to figure this new unit out.
Maybe this will help you understand what you can do
He's a pic, from the different depth readings you can see I'm on a slight slope. The DI is at the back of the boat, the 2d is off the front of the boat. I dropped a buoy off the back of the boat as soon as I cleared the brush. Fish on:yikes

Next pic SI/DI/GPS
I marked a waypoint (blue dots on chart) on each end of the fallen tree that you see in the DI pic but on this particular day, the fish had lock jaw and we only caught 2 crappie.
Just because you find them don't mean you'll catch them
