Those will be sweet!!!
Yep...I hate grease!
Sharp
Sounds kinda strange when a fireman says he's gonna burn something up.
When's the install party? Got tools will travel.
You should be ready now Carl.
are the oil bath hubs that much better than the old skool way with grease??
Don't know about a party but I'm shooting for Sunday or Monday, weather permitting. Kinda worried about hooking up the brake system. Old brakes were removed by previous owner. Everything on the tongue end seems to be there but I don't know if it all will work. Never had a trailer with brakes before, so don't know much about them. I hear that bleeding may be a pain and I don't even know where to start that process. Jigflinger says he can come be straw boss, so maybe he can walk a dumb ole fireman through everything.
Carl here is a link to an owners manual for the brake actuator on my Ranger trailer. It gives the bleeding instructions near the end of the manual. Bleeding the system is just like bleeding the brakes on a car, except you use the push rod in the actuator instead of the brake pedal. http://www.pacifictrailers.com/index...ad&fileId=2975
Feelay, I picked up eight wooden blocks today. Got the jack and impact. Just don't have any impact sockets. Either day is good. The blocks are the ends they cut off cross ties.
I got a jack, jack stands impacts and plenty of sockets. Also if I can find it a hand vac that can be used for bleeding. Hopefully they blocked the lines and didnt drain all the fluid. Just shoot me a pm when you pick a day I'll bring my stuff over to. Can't never have to many tools.
I gotta get me one of those
I hate grease too
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
Had the surge brakes on the other trailer, was a pain to bleed but man they're nice with a big boat. Good luck on the install
Feelay with Cray and flinger straw bossing and there tools handy. If u can recurit them boys of yours for the manual labor you will have it whooped in no time
Ps if you do it sunday call heck i aint no mechic but i listen well.
Did you have problems with the grease? seems like the oilbath guys are swithching back over to Vortex hubs .{grease}
:Rofl
GL with the install. Hope it goes good.
You will like the Oil Bath hubs only way to go, run cooler and no messy grease to fool with.
You should replace the master cyl. & lines. You don't won't to push
The old rusty fluid into your new calipers, you will be changing the
Master cyl. Sooner than later once you put a load on it.
X2 takes two people one to push the trailer actuator and one to turn the screw on the brakes. Speaking from experience. Use lock tite #262 on the Jam nuts for to hold the calipers in place. Not in the manual this info was given to me by the Ranger Trail Manager. After Ranger had to replace my 3 set of calipers and rims when the calipers kept falling off. CANT RANGER SAY RECALL? :dono
