Throw rocks at 2 strokes and move on up to a 4-stroke and be done with it. Four strokers are quiet, start easily, get great mileage and can troll all day with no fuss.

Go ahead and get Eric to put you a Yammy 4 stroke on that boat before you pick it up. Them War Eagles are tuff.
Yammie 4 stroke. I have the 754 LDBR and the 50 hp does very well and sips the gasoline.
The only reason anyone is running a mid range two stroke these days is because they are cheap. Go ahead and get Eric to put you a Yammy 4 stroke on that boat before you pick it up and be done with it. Them War Eagles are tuff.

if i ever get another motor it will be a yammy 4. i was at the ramp one morning parked about 10 yards from atm and could not hear his motor running. i just noticed the little swirl of water the motor was making behind the boat. another thing if you can afford it get the max h.p. motor you boat's nameplate says it will take.....i am by no means a expert but take it from the guys above that are....
What they all said....Yamaha four stroke
Are you getting a model with tiller or console steering?
Slimey, In the study phase on that point. The open floor plan allows for much more activities and types of water pursuits. I carry an ice chest if I plan on keeping any fish. No tournament in my future to old for the stress. Will also be catch and release on all Bass. Will carry minnows in a souped up cooler also no need for live wells of any type, hate carpet and will either be poly pad or roll rubber coating for sure footing. Like everyone else steering wheels are cool and look like ya got the cash to pay for them. I have had both and really like a big tiller and trim. Only short of the tiller is I have always thought about having a jack plate for a Tennessee River or Arkansas River excursions???????????????? Looking at a rod box , dry storage box for batteries and maybe a full dry box to increse casting area up front.

the yamaha 4-stoke (25hpr.) on my 1542 does great . did not get the tilt but planning on putting a jack plate with tilt later . it's not really that bad since it has pods you are not reaching over seats . the lift assist models are a breeze to tilt . the 1542 does not allow a 40 hpr./over which have assist if you go tiller steer . the floor with flotation seems to make the boat sit up better as well . mine will run 28-30 mph. ( acording to gps . ,plenty of power and it planes off ----right now !
I have a 115 hp yammy 4stroke on my pontoon and a 60 hp yammy 2 stroke on my SeaArk. To me they are both great motors. My only advice I would lend you is that if you go with the tiller be careful putting to heavy of an outboard on it. I had a 1752 F&F with a 50 merc 2 stroke and with the fuel tank in the rear as well as my batteries and my big azz I could never get what I thought was enough down trim. I tried putting 100 lbs of weight in the nose. Transom wedges, and prop changes and nothing really ever suited me. The tiller layout in my opinion is top notch. Wonder if you could get a forward fuel tank installed from the factory as mine had no storage under the front deck anyways. My two cents..
I love my Tohatsu but these guys are all right theYamaha is awesome and cant even tell its running don't know ifn its true or not but is Tohatsu made by Yamaha
Don I have been told Nissan and Tohatsu are the same engine. The plant makes Nissan,Mercury, Tohatsu up to 40Hp.

slimey, Considering mid range engine size for the unit. A 25 will push the boat will not get up on level plane. A 40 would push it fine and 50 or 60 hp would put it in the DUMB ---- speed category and cause stumkipades. Been there done that . Also had considered toons on the back have never ridden in boast with toons??????????????
