Well it's a bit of a rant but how close is too close.
went to the hot water plant and fished morning to late noon. all day I felt like other boaters were not polite at all. we throw out sinker rigs to catch catfish and all day we had boats that can clearly see our poles on rod holders and they just boat right over our lines. one guy saw me catch a wiper and five minutes later he rolls right over where I have my bait at.
I have always been taught the 50 foot rule. and when people are fishing I try to give them 100 feet especially if I am just moving around.
I wouldn't be angry if it happened once but it happened multiple times throughout the day. the last guy that did it was less than 20 feet from us and ended up tangling four lines. we told him he ran over our lines and he just shrugged it off and left. looked like the typical tournament fishing prick with his fancy bass boat. days like that I just want to attach 3 to 4 oz weights and cast it directly at them.
as far as a fishing report. hot water outlet very few fish. haven't seen a white bass at the lake for some time. caught two nice wipers. one 22" one 21" couple channel cats. fishing is very slow there. did not jig for crappie
