Another vote for minnkota. I have a Fortrex 80 on my boat and love it.

Had both. Prefer Minn Kota. I have a maxxum now and like it. Variable speed is sweet. Much better than 1-5. 1 is always too slow and 2 is always too fast. :D. Only downside is that they cause wicked interference on SI if you mount the transducer on TM.

Minn Kota all the way, hands down the best trolling motor on the market as of today. I fish lots of stump filled water and I take a lot of impacts that would tie a Motorguide trolling motor into a pretzel. Minn Kota trolling motors are Very dependable, and very durable. I have had 70 pound thrust 24 volts alt the way up to the 101 pound thrust 36 volt trolling motors and minn kotas are the best and very quiet also.
Minn Kota 80lb I-pilot here and love it!

Find a way to afford the iPilot.
Minn Kota. Save up for a Terrova i-pilot. It is money well spent if you troll.
Ditto save up for what ya can get
minn kota !!!!!
owned both would not go back to motorguide. MinnKota all the way.
Its funny that there's only the two. I"ve had both as well, and I'm gonna go with Minn Kota. I do miss the high bypass on the motorguide, its a pain in the butt to have to bend over and dial it up to five if I wanna move on down the ditch, and have to go through the gears again when I get there. But that's all I miss about it.
I like my Minn Kota. That thing should be tore up by now, but somehow it's still running.
