Has anyone ever fished Taylor Bay near Augusta ? It looks good from the Google map BUT ? :dono
Hey Roughneck - I fish the bay quite a bit. The water level needs to be right. Last year it never got up enough to fish. I spider rig as well as single pole fish there. The river will be at 16-17 this weekend and you can get back there. The best level is 19-20 and steady for a few days. These levels are from the Augusta guage. I spider rig with minnows this time of the year but take your single pole.PM me if you need any other info
Thanks for the info Billy E
Hey 4banger - If you can give me a report on The Bay it might save me a trip to Tunica Chute on Saturday.
I fish it alot and las year i did real good even w the low water.. i always spider rig but def wanna take a jig pole w u too... late april las year i caught sum hogs on jig pole and sum nice 5 lb channels almost every trip but the gar were worse than ever
Spring is always my best time to hit that place the water levels are low but when they are right you can catch a mess
Is that near indian bay ?
its near augusta
Saturday the Bay was froze over. Horseshoe has some new yoyo boo in it but no bite at either lakes
I went and checked it out late sunday morning. I launched as the last duck hunters were pulling out so i had the lake/bay to myself. toured around a bit and found some 15ft water but it was all pretty muddy. I fished about 3 hours and got skunked. Went to the upper end and it looks like it would be an excellent place to hit in the spring. The river was about 14.5 Sunday and i wouldn't want to launch and run up the chute if it was much lower. The guy that owns the launch is a nice and helpful fella. I didn't think to ask him but you reckon he'll let you decorate some cypress trees out there? I'll be back but will wait for the river to come up and the temps to warm up. water was 39 degrees.
Yes Hotrod. I wont be back till it hits 19-20 on the river
Taylor bays off limits to crappie fishermen and duckhunters!!!! Just kidding Billy E will catch them out anyway!!! Just kidding we catch a lot of fish"crappie" on a White beatle spin a good frind showed us this bait!!!! have tried roadrunners and other spinners but the beatle spin espically the H&H works well if you can find them!!!!
You just wait till that water gets up in that ironwood and you tie on a #11 or #46 meatgetter and the fight will be on. I like to fish so deep in that ironwood that it takes a chainsaw to get them out.
Thats pretty deep!!!! Good fishing!!!! Wait till they see the crappie alabama rig won't know what hit them.!!!!!!
Locals keep that place fished out with yo yo's! Both times i have fished it they whr hanging yo yo's from that boo in the middle. That lake cant restock with that much pressure. Ole white river will have to change that>
sorry guys i posted on the wrong thread!
We got the water now! Feast or fammon . Looks like it will hit 30' this week. TAV I have not heard from you in a while. Let me know how all this water helps out down south of 40.
Hope this year Taylor Bay will be back good. Tried it a few times last year in the low water. Like the place but it's one of the worst places for gar I have ever fished.
Billy - it's helping out a lot on the duck hunting lol. Will be good for the fishing later, but a mess right now
