Lake Monticello Crappie Video!!!

I've just started playing around with VideoMaker and thought I would try to post a video David and I made a couple of summers ago on Lake Monticello. We dropped the camera down at one of our "honey holes" and lo and behold the first thing we saw on the monitor was a large-size Crappie slowly meandering across the screen. For the ones that aren't fishing right now because of the weather just take a look at these Black Crappie in their natural habitat and start planning that next trip as soon as the weather improves a bit. This is the first time I have tried to post a video and I am not completely sure it will work but thought I would give it a try. Here's the link:

Nice video and glad to see several black nosed crappie in the mix. What was the depth approximately and what was the footage shot with?

Just come on down ski trip and I will make sure you are on the Crappie! Wasn't hard at all to post the video to YouTube but it did take about an hour for it to upload. Thanks for the heads up Meatgetter but you know as well as I do that if he doesn't have at least 60 feet of line on his poles (plus add the length of the poles!) the fish won't have anything to worry about!!!! We just messing with you J.W. ! ! ! Come on down and I will show you a type of Crappie fishing you have never done before! Seriously, give it a couple more weeks and they should be clustering up on the bottom where we can start pulling up some good slabs consistently......but be warned that there is a learning curve on Lake Monticello....it's different than any other lake around here and takes a particular technique to catch'em. The Crappie in the video were taped with an AquaView camera plugged into a standard camcorder for recording. This was taken in the hottest part of the summer (110 in the shade) so they were hanging just below the thermocline at 14-17 feet. Catching Crappie on Lake Monticello in the Summer is an entirely different ballgame than in the winter.....we don't even use the same jigs (they won't work and believe me we have tried about everything). I will say this much....I am known as someone that uses jigs exclusively.....but I have never caught a Crappie on a jig in Lake Monticello in the summertime. Getting them to bite a hook in the summer is a trick in itself!! That's why it's known primarily as a winter lake for Crappie. But when the Crappie are down there in the wintertime it is deep sea fishing at it's best!!
