Depends on what you are looking for - aluminum/fiberglass or small/big? I think each has different experiences with boat dealers in the area. With all those that I talk with I have never gotten a consistent thumbs up for one particular dealer. However, I bought a 19' triton from the boathouse in Athens, and had a very good experience. Mo Sheehan is the owner and also runs the national American Bass Anglers Association. I have had only one issue with my boat. One of the hydraulic steering fittings came loose and was leaking quite a bit. I went straight from the ramp to the boathouse, and Mo had it fixed the same day.
I just bought form Wedowee marine, It mite be to far south fo you. They are real personable and gave me a Great Deal. I chose them because they are within an hour of me, and had experience with the boat I was looking for. Good Luck in your search...
I do not know what you are looking for but Jacos Marine in Lawrenceburg TN is a great place. People come from all over to buy boats there. Every time I have been there are people from other states there.
Im new here and NO BOAT of fishing expert. However three weeks ago I purchased a 2012 Bass Tracker Pro 175 TF. Im very satisfied with the boat, the way I was treated and the price. I got it at Tracker Boat Center 4120 Florence Blvd Florence, Alabama. My salesman was Justin Weaver.Igot what I feel is a good deal...I got the 2012 Model with a 2013 Merc 60 HP 4 stroke....Might check it out...Good Luck Jack
Randy and his son Eric at Wedowee Marine are great people to work with, their service does not stop at the sale but when you are are happy with the end product. Just tell them Terry sent ya. New Boats | Used Boats | AL | GA | G3 | Yamaha | Mercury | Jet Ski to check them out. GOOD FISHING!
D&D Marine in Athens, AL has lots of new and used boats, I recently purchased a boat from David and Diane and it is an enjoyable experience dealing with them. They are also a War Eagle dealer and have several models on the floor to look at. www.danddmarineala.com.
Anyone done any business with. Airport boat sale below Birmingham. Checked with them on the new alum. Ranger
I live in Indiana, found a boat at Jaco Marine in Lawerenceburg Tn. Called and talked to Barbara worked out a great deal drove down and picked up my new Lowe Stinger 195 DC, Great people to deal with.
Mud Creek Marine right outside Scottsboro Alabama next to Mud Creek BBQ! They'll do you right and have great boats.
I love it, can't wait to get it back on the water. Really need about 6'' of snow to go away.
Guys, I know this thread is a year old, but I'm also in N. Alabama and looking at boats.....
Several of you mentioned Jaco's marine (Lowe dealer) in Lawarenceberg Tn. which is about 75 miles from me and as several has mentioned on this forum have good prices. The closest Lowe dealer to me is Freedom is about 40 miles away.
My question is this: How do you handle service when you buy from a non-local dealer? If there are any warranty issues do you have to take it back to the dealer you bought it from or can you take it to any Lowe dealer? Have you found that the local dealers are less likely to give you good service if you don't buy the boat from them?
Finally, if you just need engine service, will a non-Lowe dealer typically (say Tracker dealer for example) be willing to perform service on a Mercury outboard?
graveltop I ended up at Jaco's because they were the only dealer east of the Rockies that had the model Lowe boat that I wanted. As far as warranty work I have not needed any, but have talk to local dealers, all said they would be happy to do my warranty or service work Lowe or Mercury. I figure they take care of me they might sell me my next boat. Hope this help's ya out, And if ya end up at Jaco's tell Barb the guy from Indiana that bought the white Stinger dc is still happy.
graveltop, I am actually making a trip over to Jaco's tomorrow. Like ytownmonroe said, I have not had any warranty issues on my boat. I have had some trolling motor issues with mine and that is why I am going back. That is not a reflection on the dealership though, it is a reflection on the brand. It is a motorguide trolling motor and it came standard on my boat. There is only one place anywhere close to me that will service Motorguide brand and the last time they charged me for work and it still was not fixed. I talked to Barbara at Jacos and she said bring it in and they would fix it and appoligized for my troubles. It is a 2 hour drive for me to get there but it is worth the trip. This makes the 2nd boat I have bought from them and have been pleased with the product and service both times. If I ever buy another boat I will go there again. I love the Lowe Stinger I have now and I do not see me ever getting rid of it. Like I mentioned before people come from all over to buy from them. They have good prices and are good people to deal with. I have several dealers closer to me but always go back to Jacos.
ytownmonroe, crappieseeker - Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.
shoals outdoor sports in tuscumbia..great people to deal with..
X2 on Jacos Marine. I didn't buy my boat there but they do all my service work. They always fix it right the first time. Told my neighbor about them because he had been looking for a Lowes Stinger. He bought his boat there and said it was the best price he had found. Stinger with a 115 Merc.
I can recommend D&D Marine in Athens. I have done business with David for over 10 years and have always been very happy with boat deals and especially their service/repairs. David, his wife and son run a customer oriented business.
