Your a moderator, do what you want.
If this thread starts running a MC.c supportive store or person down it to could be locked. As far as I was concerned enough was said in the old thread, BOTH GOOD AND BAD. But some people dont like what others do.
You would not have been put in the position you are in Sat if it werent thought your judgement was good enuff to do it. Cant please some folks no matter what you do, just a thought. You doing good and done good locking it. Carry on with knife in hand.
Pointing out bad service, prices, and products is part of a free market capitalistic economy. Accepting it because they are "MC.c supportive" doesn't cut it with me.
I don't stop at the Dam store because I purchase my supplies earlier. That being said there were people waiting in the parking lot for the store to open at 6:45 Tuesday morning. Whoever was to open the store was obviously late. This thread could be productive for the store because if it was not the owners who opened that day they may have never of known that the employee was late. May of just of been a one time thing but I'm not over there enough to know.

OK ATM , if you dont like em DONT use them. Simple isnt it! This thread was started and can end as well.
handi, that was me in the parking lot and yes the employee was late because of children/personal problems, whatever. she apologized from the time i walked in til i left.. i was there at their stated opening time of 6 a.m. and it was the first time ever in nearly two years they have been late. i don't fish 4-5 times a week like some of you do and don't have the where all to have a minner vat at my house. i go out of my way to buy other food and drinks to help support them. they are a very small biz and deserve the support i try to give them.... james beal, olive branch, ms.......
Ya, I knew it was you bud. I'm not mad at em and I'm going to just let it go cause I don't have a dog in the fight so to speak. Now if I lived over there and depended on the store it would be a little different. Everyone have a Happy Holidays!!!!

yes, i know that handi and atm and his daughter did pass me also that morning and went down a mile or so to turn around in the worst fog i have ever seen and drive back up there and offer me some of his minners which i appreciate to the max, even let me follow him out in the fog on the lake till it cleared. ain't no dog in no fight, i just try to do what i got to do to get on the lake and not cause anyone a problem....
Hey guys these little store are struggling for our convenience..... We had two of them close in the last two months close to us on Martin. They just don't have enough business in the winter months. Now we have to drive an extra 20 minutes outa way to get minnows. One store I go to now if the owners is not there the help will not count the minnows. I purchased 5 dozen minnows 2 trips ago and when I opened my bucket to fish I had closer to a hundred minnows. Plan to report it to owner next time he is in there because he is charging only 1.25 a dozen. He can't be making money with employees like that. Don't know what started this thread but if you have your closest stores close it will make you wish they hadn't......:twocents
You are correct, I dont have a store between me and where I fish most of the time. Its way out of the way for me so I just keep a tank at the house. I am as guilty as anyone about not buying anything but bait as I normally have everything I will need at the house. Dont think there is one around Enid anymore, is some around Grenada but less than what is was last spring. Lakeway here started counting and selling by 10s but they also will sell by the pound so a pound is how I buy when I get bait there. Using live bait aint cheap and is an ongoing expense that I am having to get used to.
I couldn't believe that new lady at Q&M Friday night. She gave me over 200 minners when I asked for 100. I bout fell out when she said That's 80 n there was 150 in the bucket.
Y'all make me feel fortunate in one regard. I have a favorite store just around the corner from me and I don't think I've ever been by that they were not open. Also pass 3 more stores that sells minnows on the way to the lake, so if they were to not be open, I got 3 more chances at minnows are other stuff. All of them are Mom and Pop stores and I know they can't compete with the big box stores on some prices, but Walmart don't call me by name when I walk in not do they tell me where the fish have been biting.
Now the problem is when I get there the fish won't bite, so the minnows are kinda a moot point.

Totally agree with you BAMA. But here's what I don't understand. The store in question, says they open at 6am. I usually drive by there heading to the lake about that time, sometimes a few minutes earlier, sometimes a few minutes later. With the sunrise time being what it is right now, the last few times I have been by there at 6am or a few minutes after and the store is dark and closed. :bash I used to buy minnows from them, but got tired of waiting in the parking lot for them to show up and open the store. This has been going on for several years now. I like to be on the water at daylight, not sitting in a parking lot waiting for someone to open their store. If they would open about 30 minutes before daylight I would stop there every time and buy minnows and breakfast. Instead a buy my minnows a pound or two at a time and keep them here at home. I have to drive about 60 miles round trip to get the minnows, so I am not saving any money there, but it's more "convenient". And if I want a biscuit for breakfast I stop at the McDonalds right there at the exit off the interstate, again "convenient". So if they are struggling so bad, why wouldn't they be doing everything they can to survive? It looks to me like they are making their own bed. :dono
Every store ought to sell em by the pound. You get a fair count that way and the store also gets a fair count. I despise a store that counts every minnow. The more they are handled, the more likely they are to die on ya. Even in cool weather.
we got a goober here in L'ville, that counts out minnows one by one, actually puting each minnow in his hand. I roll my eyes and ask him if he can sell them by the pound every time just to mess with him.

Is it ok to do it (pass the good and bad info) by PM's on here. I know some have gotten slapped before for pm's so just making sure...thanks
I don't fish with minners but why don't you guy's around Grenada buy from the guy (don't know his name) that supplies the bait shop's?I got some buddies that catfish on the Ms.river and buy their goldfish from him alot cheaper than the baitshop's.I'm thinking about building me a cricket box to keep at my pond and that's how I'll get my cricket's.
That's a great idea! Before long if we pull together we can shut these mom and pop bait shops down and be happy about saving a dollar. NOT!! I will agree that if a business is supposed to open at a certain hour they should be open with everything ready to serve. But I will never try to save a dollar or two by not supporting our local mom and pop shops. How many tubes of crickets do you actually use to even remotely care about the cost?
You can do anything you want by PM. The only reason anyone would have been slapped is if they PMed a personal attack and the PM was reported to me by the recipient.
I'm just going to close this thread now cause I'm thinking it may go sideways again. Enough's been said about the topic. No reason to bitch and moan any more, after all, it's Christmas Eve. Spread Joy!
