It wasn't a record breaking day by any means but it was a good time on the water with F1race79. I figure if you bring home meat it's a good day.

Great Catch... that River Has some monsters in it. I remember one day several years ago fishing some back waters and finding 12 fish all between 16-18 inches long.
Nice mess, what part of the River are you fishing. Me and the wife were thinking of moving to the Fort Smith area and I'd given thought to fishing the river more in the future myself but didn't know how the fishing would be up there?
if you want to catch fish consistently move to the russellville area or some were in so.east ar. those are the best to areas in the state for a crappie fisherman !!!!!!
The key to catching crappie consistantly is not always geographical location, the key is to find a lake and pick it apart until you figure out how to catch them constantly and consistently. Then you have figure out how to catch crappie. Every lake has a key that will open the door to a multitude of fish catching opportunities, you just have to put the time in to find that key.
That is a good river catch. The river has plenty hogs in it.
Sure is a nice mess of fish!
Well from what I hear about Conway most anyone could catch a good mess up there. I still say some of the lakes aren't worth the effort and have poor fish numbers, the ones we don't ever hear about it seems. I have family all around the Russellville area so I know how good the fishing is up that way, trouble is I never get up that way much anymore. Wife wants me to get off the road working so I've been looking out the NW part of the state, Fort Smith and up towards Hogland. For now we were going to head down around Millwood and I'm ready to hit it some. Knowing how good Dardanelle is for fishing I figured the River would have some good places as well.
This is true, big kev and me have had manyl days that we got 5 to 7 fish and then starting searching high and low for the wiley crappie. We are learning what to look for and being more patient with our fishing. We are stilling looking for the double limits but we are gettting better at bring home a mess or two.
Lol! I would like to see just anyone consistently catch a mess on Conway from June to September. It can be done, but not without knowledge and a lot of trial and error. The same goes for any lake, just different "peak" times for each one. If you are willing and able to travel, you should always be within an hour to an hour an a half of some good fishing. But you will not have to drive far in the spring, as Ouachita really heats up at that time, so I hear.
That so I hear part is classic!!! Boys it's a big piece of water and from what little I can tell from seeing the man made structure it is fished to a degree but given I fished those same spots I'd say they aren't just loading the boat up on the Taw neither. That big of a lake should be swarming with crappie??? You can believe about 20% of what you hear and right at 100% of what you see/experience could never be truer.
Great looking catch!
Never,,EVER, underestimate the fantastic OUACHITA...if you don't catch them, its not because they are not there. It is indeed vast body of water, there are millions of places for the crappie to be, I have fished it without success, but have also been privileged to catch some gol-e gooderns too.
Now,,The mighty Arkansas, I was born on her, I have never lived more than a few miles from her high water mark. She can be fussy, she can be downright humbling, she can also give up some monster crappie...where they are today,,they likely won't be tomorrow. Its as if they disappear. I give it my best shot and hope the fish gods will smile on me that day.
Good luck on the Arkansas, remember, its a river, not a lake, be cautious!
Nice catch
I've heard that before from the bass and catfish guys saying the fish move around quite a bit which I'm sure has everything to do with either current or fluctuating water levels. There's a few choices up there though when you consider the OK lakes. I know all too well about rivers, my prop still has the nicks in her from the Little River. I never intended on going down that shoal but the current took her on down and the only way I could get back up was to shoot the moon!!!...Talk about scared cause one big rock could've tore the motor off and threw me in the process. The ramp I put in on was up river and a concrete ramp but I'd never encourage guys to put in there, way too shallow. Thank goodness we have navatronics these days and they still don't have all lakes or rivers on them.
