I been having so problem with my carb on my outboard motor. I have taken it apart about 5 times this week. I index up at Hi Way landing in mayflower try to get him to help with outboard. It look the pump ball in fuel hose was coming apart in side. He let me use on of his tanks to day to run motor. The boys talk me in to throwing out some jugs again. And we cought supper in 3 hours. Thank God for

Yes it run great with everything new now. I don't know it I going to get a new tank or if I clean mine out good. I was thinking there was a filter inside the tank where the pick up hose is. I don't know it I get all of the trash out. I don't wont to have to redo anything again.
Last time I checked them catfish eat pretty dang good to!!

Chuck at HWY landing is a good man and pretty good working on smaller engines. Iv'e known him about 30 years now. Good catch
Gindog, steer clear of ethanol enriched gasoline, it is hard on your equipment. Pure gas all the way for small engines even more so for two stroke small engines.Quote:

There is no ethanol free gas near me so I use Marine Grade Sta-bil. Been useing it for 2 yrs with no problems. It's blue colored not red.
I drive 45 miles to get my ethanol free gas. To me, the drive is worth it. I have 7 5 gal. cans. During the summer I'll get them all filled for about a week of work here. I get it when I go fishing.

There was a thread on here about a year or two ago with a list of places in Arkansas where you could buy ethanol-free gas. Might do a search and see if you can find it. May be one near you.
Glad you got motor going. Looks like ya'll got the makins of a fine fish fry. Them Blues eat real good and those look perfect size.

Well buddy of mine just bought a 2010 Ranger with a 200 Merc. The dealer told him last year when he bought it new, sat on lot for a year, that these Mercs are rated for the Ethanol but deff. use the stabil. I used to build those darn E plants up in the midwest and if you run it out quick the ethanol will burn but if you let it set and separate it's terrible for an Engine. If I'm going to go a lot I don't mind using it and my biggest problems were solved with my Merc 150 when I replaced the starter on the motor. Now if I can ever scale back in my oil (Smokes Terrible and Starts Rough) I'll be in good shape. Yes, I know smoke is a good thing but not if it fouls plugs and is rough starting. I was told to go with a 16OZ to every 6 Gallons ratio but that seems to be strong! Ain't nothing wrong with those Cats though. I kept a mess of Spots last 2 trips cause the crappie wasn't nowhere to be found.Quote:

There no way I could afford a new motor or even fix much more on mine right now. I been running some of that gas stability stuff. But have been running ethanol gas. I well be running the real gas for now on.
gin, if i were you i'd keep running the blue marine stabil in any gas you run through your outboard. you can never tell for sure just what gas you are getting even though they tell you it's ethanol free. i run the blue stabil and seafoam in mine and i buy from a station that says it's ethanol free. i won't take the chance of a big repair bill.
I will not use any cleaners because many have alcohol.Never use anything but straight gas cause , ethanol can separate and eat up older fuel lines ! My motor injects oil into the motor. All old motors that used mixed fuel I had used 50/1 ratio like Guru said.Quote:

I think the 1-2 weeks is key MD. If it's say right before deer season or middle of Summer and the bit isn't on I generally just go with regular gas myself but in the Spring of the year or any other time I'm going to fish it out quick I don't think it matters as much. A whole lotta the guys who've had problems pour ethanol gas in and don't fill back up until next month or even the next season....that prolly ain't going to work.Quote:
