Nice picts goodjob, question do u find much difference between LSS-1 &2. Any comparison shots?
Did u have to change many of factory setting?
Some of those shot in 2d (guess thats right)I would have thought they were schools of bait
how much distortion do you get on the DS/SS when you turn the TM ? nice pics.
I got to play with a HDS 7 touch today for a few minutes, WOW. So EASY to change screens, just tap the screen a time or 2, don't know about changing the settings, etc., but flipping between screens was very nice.
Thanks guys. The LSS-2 may be a little sharper, but very little. I don't have any comparison shots, honestly it wouldn't fair because I didn't have the 1 transducer mounted parallel to the water. I didn't realize how bad off it was until I took my small digital level to the lake so the 2s td could be set right. The only settings to change are the contrast or the frequency.
I didn't see any distortion on the ds and didn't try the ss.
I was wanting another LSS-1 to put on the TM but found the 2 for less $$ than some guys wanted for used LSS-1s. Otherwise another LSS-1 would've been fine.
Are the new LSS 2s only 455KHZ ? Thats the rumor I heard
On the 3rd image down I've seen similar in my plain of DF. Is that a fish swimming through the sonar? Never was sure what it was.

I think the 3rd image is his jig under the boat ,I set my sensitivity by bouncing a 1/16 jig under the boat alot of times.Hope Im telling you right.
Wilbur mine is 455 or 800, when they first came out they were supposed to be 455 hz only. I don't know if they actually made them that way.
SeaRay the third image are my jigs, the 2d image only shows one but the down scan shows both of them.
The reason I wanted to post these images was to show you can get some decent images while going slow. Most of what I've read was that you have to be going 3-5 mph to get good images. You can see speeds on the 2d screen images.
I have almost much fun playing with these depthfinders as I do catching fish, this newer technology has really helped me catch more fish. I need all the help I can get too!
Nice screen shots. I have been DS'n on the trolly for a year now and could not imagine without it. I get some distortion from the trolling motor like in shot 3 & 5.I am running a Gen2 on the back with LSS-1 and there is a big difference especially since Kickn'Bass Randy Kuens put in his super chip from a Lowrance programmer .
Impressive....I think I see fish in those!

Thanks guys,those shots were taken with a Lowrance Gen-1 HDS with the LSS-1 Structure Scan. The LSS-1 is no longer available new, but can be picked up used as low as $300 and the only HDS 8 that can be had new is the Gen-2. There has been some great deals on Bass Boat Central, here Electronics.
Newly the jigs are 1/8 ounce with 2" baby shad on them.
what is the cost of a new HDS 8 and would the HB 998 SI Combo give as good quality images as these posted from the LSS-1

im glad that you asked about were my transducer was mounted.after i posted i saw were you were talking about trolling motor mount.no mine is transom mount,but i dont think that that really matters with the humminbird because of the scroll speed adjustment.i dont no about the lowrance but the 998 pritty easy to adapt to different speeds.one more thing that needs to be adressed is possible rf noise if your transducer is mounted to trolling motor.i no that i hear a lot post about humminbird and rf but not to lowrance but i see the rf in your pictures above every time your using the trolling motor and ive seen this from other lowrance users who post.im not tring to nock any brand or anybody just wanting to give a fair comparison of the to and to let people no that theres always a possiblity that they will have to deal with rf.Quote:
