I would use 6 guage wire for your set up and also a 50 amp circuit breaker mounted close to the last battery in the system.
I went with 8 cause Art told me to use it. LOL
Bigger is always better when it comes to wireing....I just looked in my MinnKota book as well and MK reccomends 6 guage on your set up and a 50 amp breaker. But yeh 8 will work.
Keep that boat out of the salt water!!!!
I like salt water LOL. wish they made a quick release for a TM that was a duel one. I have a 24 volt salt water motor Guide but it bolts on different than the Minn Kota. Be nice to just be able to switch em out real easy
Ain't used bleach in a LONG TIME. 3 or 4 years G.
i needed 8 guage for my new to me power drive v2. couldn't find it nowhere. finally some one said why don't you look for a cheap set of jumper cables. first place i looked, bammm, 8 guage 2 strand, 8 bucks... worked great and that copilot is the cat's meow for me at least.
6 gauge. If you will start doing things right the first time, you may stop having to do them over. Just saying.
Did you get tinned wire?
I bought what Art told me to buy. He's the local TM repair guy.
BTW, I asked him about getting 6 gauge and he said there was no need to get any. He knows I take it out in the salt water a time or to a year as well. He said to Sauder the connectors not shrinkwrap them
U are running less than 18', 8 will be fine. 6 would be better though. Slather in dielectric grease.
Wannabe...
The best wire I have found is the small welding lead. The real limber stuff with a whole lotta strands to it. Course I got a good friend who is welder so its not that hard for me to find lol.
Got 4 ends done. Those are the only ones i could do til i get em.pulled n cut ghe right length.. I crimped em real tight coated them with dielectric grease n coated them with a thick coat of liquid lektric tape. Ill get em pulled n connected fomorrow a$ternoon. Shouldnt take but 30 minutes or so. I wanna go feshing Thursday something bad
Better get a 60 amp breaker. I got wire for days. I use the oxygen free (limber) wire. It's multi stranded, and the oxygen free wire has less resistance so you can get by with smaller diameter. 8 will be fine. The boat I'm using now has 8, and it works good. WB is right on the longer runs.
