So you'll be down in my neck of the woods .... ehhh ...... wish I could grab the pontoon and hit it with ya ...... But I gota go to work here in a few minutes and then from there heading to Westport for 2 days of salmon fishin!
Good Luck and I'll be looking for the report when I get back!
couldn't find any crappie but the rock bass were out in force. got around 65 rock bass and only a couple little bluegill. they were hitting real good until the sun came through the clouds then it shut down. can't wait for them to make that boat launch, so i don't have to pay $30 to go out on the lake
oh yea, i released them all too.
Sorry to hear you didn't get into a bunch of good fish CK :( I'd have thought you would do quite well but I've noticed I'm wrong a lot LOL. I think I'm gonna fish for a couple hours on Clear lake tomorrow morning before all the boats get on the water, I'll let you guys know how it goes.
Yea, and speaking of Slab, where is he?
good luck out on clear :D
and at least i caught a bunch of fish. they fight pretty good on ultralight.
Well I never made it to Clear Lake as my wife and kids were sick yesterday. Got to stay home and play nurse. Oh well, maybe this weekend. :)
got back from potholes on wednesday ..it was hot ..really hot ..fishing was slow ...really slow ... what has happened to all the good panfish ...potholes I caught only smallmouth bass ..my wife got a 4lb trout while we were looking for other things in the cooler water ...not 1 perch ,bluegill , crappie found ..we tried around goose island and parts of the outter dunes area near the beaver huts I could find ...we used to bring in lots of good size perch even ice fishing there before .. surface temp was 98 while we were there ..with a good wind mixing things up ..we got back and I was still jonesin to fish ..so thursday went to kapowsin ..wanted to hit it before the new launch opened ..rock bass after rock bass .. we caught a few good bluegill on largemouth sized lures ..thoose fish were hungry ..only hit 3 large mouth .leeches got no strikes there ..I used to fish there 3-4 times a week .where did all the rock bass come from . no perch or crappie seen ..we were the only ones on the lake till about 3pm..we got there at 6am ..resort doesn't open till 7am ..lameness...we left at 8pm..has anyone been hitting the 14-16 inch perch in lake washington yet or are they still hanging deep ..
i hope the fishing is better for me when i go to the potholes monday  . many of the perch, crappie, and bluegill out of the potholes were over fished a few years ago and what is the end result....... less fish. also during the mt. st. helens eruption many fish died from all the ash that covered the lake. i haven't seen any 14"-16" perch out of lake washington but plenty in the 10"-12" range. where do you get 14"-16" perch?
oh yea, welcome to the boards. gotta like a felow edmonds local :D
I have caught them alot .there are some big ones in there if you look for them ..I usually hit one while fishing for something else then I switch over ..
I use a super ultra light setup for them .I have noticed I catch 5 - 1 over the other friends using stronger poles ..If they feel the rod they're gone .. fish like you would for walleye ..(shh I have caught a couple of them in lake wash too, as well as a sturgen and a lake trout ,sturgen almost killed me as I use a small boat. and have also had fish robbed by sea lions out in the lake ) I was planning another trip to kapowsin soon . with the sockeye thing lake washington is a no go for a few ...If you wanna hook up and go for perch let me know ..still trying to find a good crappie hole on lake washington too ..
so i guess i'm not going to the potholes monday, i have to wait untill thursday :( (long story). so i'm gonna get up early and go out to cassidy for some bass....... and CRAPPIE :DQuote:

I'm thinking about hitting L. Wahington tomorrow and see if I can find some of them perch your always talking about. ;)
Oh and I just remembered this weekend is the Sockeyefest on L. Washington so I won't be headin there tomorrow...Maybe next time I am off during the week.
Hrm now I have to think about where I'll be heading tomorrow morning...
jumbo perch : you fish like they are walleyes- in Lake Wash I troll wally pops with worm behind a bottom bouncer weight. sometimes as deep as 90feet! I prefer East channel and north end of Mercer. i got a 14" walleye under the bridge last november. This May I killed some giant perch in the north end of lake Sammy by bouncing a cha cha with worm in 35 feet of water off the weedline, remember not to troll too fast. oh there used to be a nice crappie hole off the log boom in east channel near the old lumber mill. there are a couple of rockpiles in 20 feet, usually loaded with slabs and smallies. -- tight lines!
all the fish in cassidy are stunted. got about 50 crappie and perch (mix in a couple pumpkinseeds) but most of them were under 7". only got 1 crappie over 9" (released). fun lake for little kids.
spud: thanks for the tips. how do you troll in 90' of water? and do you troll that deep during the summer? i was gonna go out to washington on thursday but since the sockeye fishing is gonna be re-opened i'm not going near there. anyone have suggestions on where to go? maybe sammamish.......
and i guess i'm gonna go to the potholes on sunday now :( . decided we didn't want to be there during the weekend croud  .
Hey cK, I troll for both kokes and perch using my bow mount electric real slow. On Washington I start just off the weedline in at least 25 ft and pass 10ft deeper each pass until I hit the size I want to keep then throw out the marker buoys and then switch to jigs with perch meat. in the winter or other cold months they can be found 65 to 115 ft-- the brighter the sun the better in cold months. trolling with bottom bouncers in this lake you will loose gear! but if I wanted a cheap hobby I wouldn't be a fisherman:) I know cK you like to release fish , but the fisheries guy I talked to at Kapowsin suggested we keep all the rock bass we catch, they are stunting themselves and competing with crappie and gills. Samething happened to st. claire and American. I don't think I've ever eaten a rock bass -- but they should be good like most sunfish. later
went out to cassidy again tonight for a few hours off the dock. the fishing wasn't very good. got a few perch and about 2 dozen little crappie. but i did get to try the bait pump i got the other day. they always talk about it on the main forum and it does work really well.
Hey Spud,
Are you using Bottom Bouncers in 25ft of water as well? Or only when you are fishing the mammoth depths past 65ft in the winter? Just curious because I love to eat perch and the better I can catch them the more my stomach loves me :D Plus I like to take my kids perch fishing as I can usually keep them in some action so they aren't bored waiting for the next bite...
I troll bottom bouncers in wash, sammy and alder at any depth deeper than 20ft, since perch are usually near the bottom. another set up I like is a small jointed rapala behind the bouncer on a 40" leader. With this in Sammy and Wash you pick up Huge perch , big trout, smallies and sometimes largies.
well i'm going to the potholes tomorrow morning (4:30). it sounds like the crappie are hitting good off the dock..... hopefully that means they are hitting good on the main reservoir also  . i'll be back on thursday with a report and pics of some slabs!!!!!! :D ;)
hey spud Am thinking that I would love to try that mettod big perch and trout seems like a good deal.
I fish for them Alot in the north end of the lake ..I tend to do the best where the creeks come into the lake . find the creek . find the drop off .. find the edge of the weed line around 18-25 feet and you can take some large fish from there ..when its hot like this the fish seem to love the cooler water of the creeks ..1 at civic club ..1 at mathews beach .. 1 at holmes point ..
and one about half way between civic club and sheridan beach .. 1 in the bay across from sand point launch to the north of the big dock ..also have found them stacked on the west side of the lake off arrowhead point where the bottom drops from 20 foot to 40 foot there is a good shelf ..after the shelf it drops right down into 140 foot ...have caught cohos while deep trolling that area too. thats lots of fun on light gear..like that one guy said ..go slow ..or you won't keep it down there where the fish are ..
hit kapowsin again thursday ..hitting a lot of rock bass still..saw 3 other boats this time too.no crappie ..no largemouth over bout 1-1/2 lbs ...we hit it from 7am to 8pm ..caught some large sunfish about handsized in the pilings area of the bay across from the new launch...
So how far along are they on that new launch? I'm thinking I need to drive by and see where it is especially if it has already opened...Quote:

well i found a hot spot in my hotel room for my lap top computer. first off, nice job on the perch brokentrail :D
now for my first day report. we first went into the lind coulee to see if our crappie spot had some on it by now..... and they were. got about 50 in a couple hours. only got 2 keepers (released) and the rest around 7"-8". so after that we went to the dock to do a little crappie fishing. it was pretty slow at first but i finally found a spot with some good fish. got 3 keepers from 10"-12". here's the biggest 2 at 11" and 12" (1lb 2oz). and call me crazy, but i let those 3 keepers go also.
todays bounty
dock
released (i know, just sign me up for peta right now :D )
the new launch is suppose to be open in sept .they are getting pretty close ..
only took them what 12 years ..how hot was it over there at potholes ? it was 109 when we were there .has anyone hit lake wash lately ? was thinking its about time again ..
Sept?? Right On!! I can't wait to be able to get on that lake again. It is like 15 minutes from my house and I've always done well there...Quote:
