I have a 50 hp 2 stroke that is almost 2 years used now. I have change the lower unit oil. other than that I have not had it serviced. I think I need to get just a good maintenance service on it. Any recommendations in the OB / Southaven area?

I will agree with this one(Souther Marine)....couple of years ago I took my merc to him. What I thought was a big problem turned out to be something very simple. HE was very fair and honest with the fix and the price. I will use him again if needed.
x3 on Mike at Southern Marine. He's good people.:ThumbsUp:ThumbsUp
X4. Mike is the best Merc guy anywhere.

Gonna carry him my Merc in December and get it tuned, carbs completely gone thru and tuned. Not satisfied with my work, it'll do but there is more there to get and I want it all. Mike used to race and was running the same motor I have so he know it like the back of his hand.
Mile knows EVERY Mercury like the back of his hand!!!!!

None better than Mike!
Does anyone know his hourly rate? The Merc guy that I spoke to wanted near $500 to clean three carbs and swap out a water pump impeller.
All I can tell you is that he is fair, not gonna skin ya. If he does 500 bucks worth of work you will get 500 bucks worth of work.
Labor is $90 hour. Mike will only do what is needed and shoot ya straight for sure.
Thanks for the info. I called him and he pretty much said there was no real need to bring it in unless there was actually something acting up as long as I had done the lower unit oil change. It was a good conversation. He said I could bring it in, but it probably wasn't necessary. By being honest up front that sure makes me ready to use him when it is necessary.
That is the kind of people you like to deal with. We need a lot more like him.
