here are a few float-n-fly and crappie jigs I did fri. nightAttachment 105241
looks good to me, now time to put them to work
they look like they should do just fine, nice ties
if I may ask what is the gold tail made of please
very nice ties sir
Short grub that one is Barred Mallared flank dyed yellow...I use it in float-n-fly jigs stuck on that one and like how it looked!
Got some float and fly coming up in the near future, thanks for the ideas. The bodies look like craft fur, am I right? Nice looking jigs, especially the minnow heads.
Craft hair...I don't like how craft fur bunches up... I just did a morning dawn today!
I don't use craft fur much, but I do know a very successful guide on Toledo Bend and that is about all he uses. First pattern he told me about was the regular craft fur in the Black that turned Silver as it goes out and that stuff will definitely catch crappie. I could probably get along with it better now that I don't just keep my jigs in a regular plano box and can keep them separate, but when I did keep them of the same color in a little square box compartment they would get all hung up together. Use to make me crazy.
Almost forgot, good job on the jigs!
thank you sir
Attachment 105393 here is the prototype Morning Dawn Float-n-fly!
Nice bunch of jigs
if i may.......what exactly is a float-n-fly jig. i have heard the term before but not sure what it is.
thanks,icejohn
Its a system used to catch small mouth and spotted bass in the dead of winter...it also catches crappie.... couple of choices where bobber is used either 3 way swivel or bobber stopper..or just wind the line around the bottom of cork...any way the hair jig is suspended under a cork on a floracarbon leader...its a killer way to catch fish
Nice batch of jigs!!!!!!!!
I almost hope those jigs with three to four different colors of hair don't outperform simpler ones for you... would make future jig-tying more complicated! Look great, though.
Those with diffrent hair are for a guy in California who asked me if I could do a morning dawn...for the float-n-fly...for (bass) and I did...put it on my facebook page and the hits went through the roof people wanting me to make them some so I guess I will..craft hair is really easy...cut it, shuck the shorter fibers out, trim the butt end straight, and but on the head of the jig..then the sky is the limit with krystal flash...UV thread and powder coating...its just fun!
