Thanks guys!
Man I don't want to sound stupid, but I have been trying to figure out what an aero jig is? It looks like a catcher for sure, but please tell me what aero stands for.
It's the brand name of jigs made by Hawken Fishing. They make a bunch of different styles under the name, but the one everyone thinks of as THE Areojig is the one with a twisted chenille and hackle tail. They're mainly used for salmon and steelhead, and just about any tackle shop worthy of the name out here on the west coast carries them.
Fishing Jigs & Lures for Salmon & Steelhead
Thanks Shoemoo, never heard of them, but we don't have salmon or steelhead either. Wish we did as that would be fun.

That looks good Hillbilly.
Good lookin jig. Spotted bass would also be all over that around here. They like the fuzzy look.
The twisted tail is a neat concept. If you like experimenting, try different materials.
The jig in my first post is made from 1 black hackle, black/olive chenille, and a speck of chartreuse yarn.
Here's a salmon jig:

Completely different, eh?
1/4 oz pearl, estaz body, tail = 1 hackle + polar chenille (twisted).
Synthetics have awesome visual pop and the hackle gives it natural undulation.
I have ADD and can go nuts with this stuff. It's a lot of fun! Jumping Jacks Icon

I like that salmon pattern, would slay pink salmon for sure. Might even get a Chinook or Coho to hit it in that color.
It is fun to tie and has unlimited uses. Steelhead flies and jigs are tied with it to keep the profile small but give a bushy tail. You can use it for posts, wings, tails and almost anything else.
Works for sacs too

But bream looove em in smaller sizes
Sweet jig Micropterus!
Welcome from Alabama. Nice work on that jig.
Yah, I don't use the exact technique either and it is amazing how useful a modified slip knot is for keeping it together until you tie it in.
You should try tying some of those with a copper head. I use the copperhead CSI powder paint and it makes some awesome looking summer run steelhead jigs in darker colors of reds, blacks and purples. A bright pink or orange head for salmon and winter run steelhead. I have had decent luck with a plain lead free jig head tied with bright colors also so maybe a bright silver or chrome PP would work well there.
Salmon and steelhead do. Trout didn't. Can't say for crappie or pan fish.
But I know trout loved that aero fly on a micro jig. Black, dark olive and purple were killer this year for lake pant trout.

2 jigs and 2 flies. Fun to play with this technique. These are huge for salmon and steelhead but I think a bass would take one and possibly a really big crappie.
Those look nice!
Did you use two hackles?
The video starts with a loop of chenille but I use a single strand.
2 hackles on the orange and 3 hackles with the darker ones.
I will have to try a single strand, would be much easier than a loop of the heavier chenille.
