I haven't tried yet. I am still chasing eyes and crappies and usually do not start looking for sauger until the water cools down below 60 degrees.
I went to meldahl on foot today and nothing really happening on the beach but the water temp was 69 late afternoon on my little minnkota temp meter.
Went below Pickwick Dam yesterday, and they're starting to bite.
Water should be below 60

Don't know first hand, but have a few buddies reporting some good catches in the last week on the Ohio, lots of numbers, the size isn't there yet. Thinking about leaving the B n M's at home and bouncing some curly tails this weekend.
Where do you sauger guys get your jigs? Any favorite places to get them. I would rather buy them from someone local or at least a small business.
Thanks
I'm pretty sure Grousefly could fix you up. He's about as "local" as you can get :Rofl (Vicco, Ky)

Any particular bank fishing areas below Kentucku/Barkley or the canal ? Is size limit below these two dams also 14" as are the lakes ? Wife is out of town with inlaws, son is duck hunting. I'm working today but off tomorrow & wanting to throw some jigs.
Answered my own question. 14" Thanks
They have arrived! I fished the Falls of the Ohio this morning and had to fight a crowd with the good weather and no work. Kept a limit. Most fish in the 15" range with the longest going almost 20". They haven't fattened up on shad yet so they're still kind of anemic looking. Give them another month and they'll look like footballs. The bite is hot but be prepared for a crowd and a few without any manners at all.
Thanks Pappy. I will give him a call.
Thank you very much
3" White curly tail grub on a football head jig on Fireline or anything chrome that ou can keep from losing in the rocks. I like small spoons like Kastmasters because you can cast them farther than other lures the competition is throwing and can reach fish that their lures never come close to.
Went Turkey day, below Markland dam. They started hitting about 45 minutes before dark till dark. Most caught where 15" or better and nice and fat.
