Anybody make these?
So i bought some new jigs at a local bait shop and i want more but i dont want to pay the price he is selling them for! I have never seen these before and he has them special made by somebody and sells them for $1 a piece. They have been working awesome for me on the mississippi river the past week! All they seem to be is some kind of tinsel with a small rubber body. I have been putting them on a 1/32oz. barbless jighead and it has been working perfect. Anybody know where i can buy some or how to make some myself?

Ship made this nice tutorial on how to make them:
http://www.crappie.com/crappie/jig-t...em-photos.html
Although the ones picture looked dipped.
-
They almost look like hollow tubes, with thetail trimmed. Then stuffed with marabou or something.
-
Its just flash like grizzley flash and rubber im sure ship could make you those
-
Could be stuffed in there but it sure looks like the material was placed in the mold and then it was poured, or somebody did a really good job on em!!!!!!!
-
looks to me they have been tied at the waist
, making the shorter front fibers to spread out a bit, then dipped.
There is a Dip It product on the market that should work, normally used to dip tool handles.
It's also possible the front fibers were trimmed in a rounded nose shape before dipping.
-
Yes i am pretty sure they are dipped and they are not hollow. I just dont know if there is a mold for this kind of thing or if you just dip the fibers in some kind of rubber?

I like them. Looks like a good ice fishing jig to me!

dipped id say as well just flashabou or krystal flash dippe d a few times in plastic ill work on it soon ive got the supplies already if im happy with the way they turn out ill post a thread and well get you some

That would be awesome. I wouldnt mind learning how to make them myself! Ive gotten into pouring my own heads the last couple years but have yet to experiment with the jig body making process yet. These little jigs are the perfect size and white/chart. is always one of my best colors. I wonder if a smaller version of this can be made about 1" long to fit on a 1/80oz. jig head for ice fishing? That would be a pretty potent bait under the ice i believe.

It would be interesting to dissect one. Cut one open and see what it's composed of.
-
no mold needed, just cut your flashaboo or other simular product hold one end dip other into slightly thickened plastic several times dip into water between dips and you can make the head any size you want............tknight

I bought a bunch of these years ago when fishing with a float around stakebeds. Worked well and held up a long time. I think I got them from a place called the Crappie Co. but can't be sure. They had a booth over at the Nashville Fairgrounds. I've heard they are there every year. You might check with them. Bought a bunch back then, very cheap and they last a long time.

I would try dipping them in heated or melted soft plastic like that used to make jigs and bass fishing worms.
-
The plastic is a little bit harder than your plastic used for most jigs

Going thru some old stuff and the place where I bought mind years ago was from:
Crappie/Bass Company, USA
1723 HWY. BUS. 60 West
Dexter, MO 63841
Phone: 573-624-2208 Fax 573-624-8775
I have no idea if they are still in business or still sell this lure you are looking for. Found several old ones in a box and decided to hang onto them in case I ever fish a float over stakes. They worked great then and one would last all day.
Looked at old catalog and didn't see it so I'm not sure if this is where I bought them or not, it's been over 10 years ago. Sorry.
