I've always been taught that somewhere out there exists a better way of doing things and i'm always looking for it. I have posted a drawing of how I rig my poles for spidering. I'm trying to find out from all you spidering vets on here if there is a better way to do it.:donoI always want to improve my game and see what works best.Any help or opinion from you guys would be greatly appreciated!

Ok i tie mine 2 differant ways one way is kinda like urs but my top leader is not as long (3") and i dont use a barrel swivel or any kinda beads i jus drop down and put my weight and hook or jig. The distance between my hooks depends on how deep im fishing.
i never fish with more than 1/2 oz weight.
The other way is i dont use any hardware at all.(this i use mostly)
i tie a double overhand loop knot leaving about a 3to5" loop then cut the line close to the loop and tie my hook to that at the length u want(3") drop on down put my weight and then my hook or jig below that.
Keep in mind im on realy good pain meds so this prolly dont make sence at all but i tried.
Ps: i see nothing wrong with ur rig at all..

That looks similar to how I tie mine but where u use a 12 inch drop on top I use 6. My main line then goes down about 18 where I place an egg sinker and then another 6 to my hook. I don't use a barrel swivel and never have a problem with line twist. If u make a rig the lengths of your drawing your going to have some doozy tangles from time to time IMO. You have the correct concept down though. Good luck.

I don't use a leader for the top hooks.
There's been a few really good discussions on this over the last couple years and some have some sketches with them. Concept is right on, that's for sure. I'll use anywhere from 6 inches difference from hook to hook to 30 inches hook to hook. Water depth and if they're holding tight to a certain depth determine that. If I have them zeroed in and a certain depth, I'll tighten up the hook distance. I don't use swivels, loop knot and lately, I've changed my way to tie the top one on. Slide the top hook on and then tie the bottom hook on. Move the top hook up the line where you want in and tie a triple look knot. Once you do that, tie single loop knots starting at the main line about every inch til you get to the hook. It hakes the hook stand out away from the main line when you're moving real slow

I make mine like minner talked about one time. I start out with a four foot piece of line. I'll run the end through a barrel swivel about 10 inches. I tie a clinch knot and I wind up with a tag end ,that you would usually cut off, around 8 inches long. Tie your hook on it. Run the long line through a 1/2 oz egg sinker 3 times, about a foot from the bottom and tie a hook on the bottom.

I had to run to the house. She put a new battery in her car yesterday and this morning it wouldn't crank again. The guys at her office installed it and they didn't get it tight nor did they get the corrosion off the terminals. Easy fix but I had to drive home, clean the connectors and put it back on the right way. I'm sober Andy. Only a couple of typos in what I typed about the setup and my normal rambling. LOL I just type it, don;t reread and fix typos. BUSY working
I saw the setup I was talking about with a bunch of small loop knots to make the top hook stand out on one of Russ's shows (Midwest Crappie) and it does make the hook stand out away form the main line. If you're moving at .5 MPH you don;t have to worry about it, but when you're having to sit still or move really slow to get a bite, the top hook will be right up against the main line
I like your rig, I tie my droppers a little shorter than yours as some have already said. Also, I like the way you attach your sinker, I do it the same way a lot of the time. Most people just wrap the line through it a couple of times and that's fine, but tying it with the swivel and bead (C-rig style), lets the line slide through it with no resistance and I think it takes the fish longer to feel the weight if they hit the bottom hook that way.
Also, for the mods: This could turn out to be a good informative thread. Shouldn't it be in the fishing section where it will hang around a little longer? This will be 5 pages down the line in a couple of days on OT, just a thought.

All kinds of rigs work try some and find what you are most comfortable with and you will fish them harder and catch more fish.
I think your rig is fine. Mine is similar except I don't use any swivels and beads. I have nothing against swivels and beads, it's just less complicated to not use them. I also believe less bulk on the rig is better.

I don't know where I stand, but I've use this for years and it works for me. I think that is important.
I start with a piece of line about 4 ft long. Tie a hook or jig on one end. (I make several with a variety of combinations), come out about 4-6 inches and tie a double knot loop. Thread a hook or jig on the other end and come up the desired distance between hooks and tie this one the length u want using another double knot. Then come down 8-12 inches and tie a snap swivel.
I have a snap swivel on my line from the pole as well. I can change them out quick and change weights fast as well. Helps me to find the bottom without my hook hitting bottom. I can also put a clamp-on weight and use the bottom swivel for a third lure when legal.
And too, I remove the weight when I'm finished fishing and store them and the supply of spares on a noodle.

Best way is to throw all that out get you a jig and save minners . You ever had one hit both hooks ? Save all minners . Actually my wife won't let me use then . Lol

If you want MAXIMUM simplicity, do what I did and get of bag of pre-tied Capps and Coleman rigs from Grizley. They have several weight sizes to choose from, I chose 1/2 oz.
I only use stinky minners when I fish the big four. At Okatibbee it's either jigs or cranks. I'm gonna tip jigs with minners next week at Grenada. I tied up some secret weapons just for that. Lol
