Rookie Status Continued 9/16/12

Well today was good in alot of ways, learned what its like to have all the poles go down at once, makes for a pretty good cluster when you are by yourself. Did figure out that we dont want NO GARS hitting at all, what a mess!!:banghead Bout got the thumbar thing down but the net still needs work, thank goodness for PSTs. All in all its coming around and maybe I wont be a rookie for no more than a year or so.:biggrin
Big thanks goes out to Crappielogic, after fishing with BRM last week and using Minner Critters I knew I needed something of the sort. Wanting to fish Wednesday or Thursday I knew Jerry couldnt get any to me in time. Picked up the phone and called Donnie Sunday night, think he was shocked after I had fished with Bill all weekend. Anyways, Donnie had some tied and said he woul;d stick em in the mail first thing Monday morning, THANKS DONNIE!!!!!!!! I caught alot of fish last weekend on Minner Critters and since Thursday every fish I have caught has been on a Gnat, in all fairness I cant tell any difference in the two, both are quality products and Donnie and I are friends, I have never met Jerry and certainly not taking anything from him.
Thanks Donnie for your quick service and great colors, Hair Gnats caught the most fesh as well.

nononoEverything has its time and place Cray, cranks deffinetly have a place in my boat just got to learn a new trick. Cant think of anything I need for crank pulling, time to tweek the slow trolling, drift socks next and some air for my minners, bait management seems to be key, bait I used up today was bought Friday morning so I think I will be fine just got to get something dependable for the boat.

Hey Rees, what kinda poles and length are you using. All I got is 12'ers and was thinking about gettn some longer ones.

It said I did, havent fooled with it on the puter yet. I hope so cause I planed off the Astro and ran the creek back up to the mouth of the ditch rite down the ceter of the creek where I knew there werent no stumps or logs. Started recording a new track when I headed in so it wouldnt be a fishing track but more to the center of the creek. I love to run that creek and Astro will turn on a dime.:biggrin

About the air for the bait, done skimp, get ya a twelve volt bait system and mount the areator under one of your boxes then run the line up front where ya gonna have the minnow bucket sitting. I have one in my boat that had two lines coming from it. I put them both into one line and ran it up front with a toggle switch. I have no prob at all keeping a pound or so of minnows alive in the heat with my system. Cost about thirty or forty bucks and was worth every dime it cost.

X2 I went through 3 battery powered ones this year. Bought one like GDG said. Since I use 2 buckets with my stick steer I mounted mine with a line at front and one at rear.works great. Going to get another one this fall and mount it to run both lines into livewell. Actually cheaper than buying good battery bubblers and replacing batteries all the time. I also have a 30 gal clear plastic tote in the shop with a dual filter acurauim filter and a air pump I dump leftover minnows in. Can keep 6/8 dozen for a week or so in temps over 85. Gets in the 70's have kept them for 3/4 weeks.

you done good John. That Messican fire drill with all the poles going off at the same time it rough but fun

12 foot PSTs, may gets some Ozarks down the road but for now I am gonna fesh with these.
