This sounds like a lot of fun! I will see if I can get caught up enough in school to make it that weekend. If we cant make it for the whole weekend we may be able to make it Saturday and Sunday.

Where would one get a map showing the where the abilene campground is and the boat ramp names? Not having much luck finding the info

the marina was very very good to me last time i was up there. see you about 1 hopefully
The only bait shop you can reach from the water is the Marina and quite honestly it is the best around Melvern. It depends on who is working but we normally get a good count at the marina. Either way, it doesnt pay to drive anywhere else to get minnows at $4 a gallon! :yikes
We should be there around 6 or 7 Friday night if everything goes according to plan. :dono
If you can spare a bag of fish, please bring as our fish supplier can't make it... That way we don't have to clean and cook all in the same day.. Thanks.

I hope i can still make it... Truck went into the shop to have rear end rebuilt and some of the front end worked on today. They said thursday it would be done but we all know how that is... keeping my fingers crossed

Thanks Ragnar... I got the park office to send me locations to about 30 brush piles on a map... between the ones u know and that maybe we can put a few in the boat friday:biggrin.

1.5 hours working. 4 houRs cleaning and loadingg the truck. But who counting. Can't wait I need a break. Last time at melvern was the crappiemcom picnic that LBM put me on the winning fish (15in) plus loads of other ones. Hope to repeat another good trip this weekend
I just got home at 8 and we are getting ready to load the camper and the pickup. Looking forward to this weekend!
I plan to make it down Sat. Evening for the fish fry. I will be bring the kids (3 yrs) since its the wife's weekend out. Probably be down late in the afternoon to let the kids play a while at the play ground before supper. I plan to leave Olathe around 4:00 so if anything is needed at the last minute just PM me and I can pick it up. I will bring a pasta salad for the fry. Look forward to meeting some of you guys.
Boat is ready, clothes in truck, food and beer, get the work day over, and pick up Craig.... Melvern bound..... Should be a great weekend...

??? I put you on more crappie than anyone else caught yesterday!! 16 crappie, a sauger and a couple white bass on a day the wind is blowing 25 mph is a pretty good day when you cant fish the good piles due to the wind and waves!Quote:

yes you did. friday was good, saturday was good, today was well, i got 8 12" and 2 14" unfortunatly they was all spotted bass onlyl a few crappie. thanks again for the trip. you have a wonderfull family, stay safe
