I have been think of getting a 4th pole. what kind is good
What are you gonna use it for??
everything
I havent used the Pinnacles for anything but trolling but they are cheap enuff. Come in 12s, 10s, and 8s. All 2 peice rods as well, grizzlyjig.com has for like 17 or 18 each.
Minner, lots of different kinds of crappie feshing, he might was gonna push cranks with a 8 oz weight and the Pinnacles cant handle that but a good stick of boo can, just saying.
By the way, there have been a BUNCH of feshes caught on them Pinnacles and they have done good. Did hear someone say they had the top section break on a new one but I hear of this all the time on the higher priced roods, I dont say near as many bad words when I break a cheap one. Havent broke one yet tho.
Rees ya gewber, I was only joshin with ya. Lighten up, live, laugh and be a gewber.
BcX, you really should be more clear as to what technique of feshin you hope to be doing.
Rees, he ain't got a boat, so ifn he's gonna push cranks with an 8oz weight, he's gonna get tired of walkin the bank, so I'm purty sure that ain't the method he's talkin bout. And why ya wanna bring the cane pole theory into the equation? That was jus wrong.
Silstar makes a good telescopic minner pole that is used for slip corks. This is the method me and WB used last weekend and caught a bunch of fesh.
You can get ya an 8' BGJP relatively cheap and put a spinning reel on it to jig with or cast. It's really a preference and desired technique that determines the type of rod you need.

how cheap is cheap BCX?
Like t-man, I don't know what your budget is for the rod but I have a couple of these and they are very good rods.

Because when folks are trolling Enid and Sardis with 8 oz weights pushing cranks or jigs big sticks of boo seem to be the go too, that's why so dont try to turn something the way it werent intended.
Really didnt think about him not having a boat tho. That being the case a 16 PST is my go to when walkin the bank, aint cheap tho but you can reach alot more and have plenty of backbone to put em on the bank.
I must of not noticed, I use to see it all the time
I seldom fish either lake and see it almost every time I go. Aint run no boo out of the Beast but ifn I see a need to you can bet yo bottom dollar I will. Gonna run some boo crappie condos out of it after this Big Mama tourney gets out of here but they will be dropped in the lake never to be seen again.:biggrin
i already have a 12ft pinacle that broke off to about 10 half feet and 2 bm telescopin poles that are ok. Im tring not to not touch the cane pole coment
Good cause it werent meant as a negative at all, ton of folks push with em.
A PST is a good rod and when not fishing from a boat I find myself wanting plenty of backbone in the rod I choose. 12fters and down are 2 piece and 14s and 16s are 3 piece. I fish alot of ditches from the bank in the spring and like I said I use a 16 ft PST because of the reach and the strength of the rod. Are you jig fishing or cork and minner fishing? Dont like the 16 for cork and minner myself, 12 is plenty long.
Rees I have to disagree with you on the 16' pole. They are way too heavy to jig fish with they are too long.Besides when your walking the bank, they are more than likely spawning so no need in 24' pole
Get a 12ft sam heaton from bnm and you will be ready...or for a little stiffer rod go with the brushcutter in a 12ft by bnm.
One more thing, before I bought a whole bunch of poles and stuff you should try pm'ing a few of the members on here and seeing if you could tag along. Most all my fall fishing is on KY Lake and if your ever in the area let me know and I'll gladly take you. There are several good guys with more than enough room in their pontoons and fish n skis to let ya tag along.
The CrappieHunter series is a lot better than the Slab Seeker in my opinion.
Check your local Walmart. This time of year they will be putting their crappie poles on sale. Olive Branch had 8 ft BGJP for 25 or 29 the other day. Like some one else said, makes a big difference how you plan to use.
BCX if your gonna be jiggin alot then go ahead and get ya an eleven or twelve foot Sam Heaton Super Sensitive. Best jig pole on the market bar none!!!!!! And when I first started trolling I used them for that as well until me some BnM PST s. This is just my opinion but I have some Sam Heatons that are very old and they still hangin in there.
Sure are nice.
Harry, stop by some day we'll do some internet shopping. Buy some good cheap rods and reels that won't break the bank. Maybe the next time you drop off a container.
