I'm wanting to get into tying my own jigs but I have no idea where to start. Is there any advice or recommendations you guys/gals can make to help me get started right? Thank you in advance for your help. I've been watching videos on you tube and checking out the crazy angler site. Just overwhelmed at all the options.
i would start out simple with some threadnecks too get your tails and necks proportioned to the head. then go to the slater type jig with chenelle body you want you body and tail to be proportioned to the head in other words you dont want your body one inch long and your tail 4 inches long or vice avers i would start out with a calve tail its really easy to cut and trim and use a flat wax 210 thread so you can cinch down tight on your thread without breaking just my opinion on what you should there are a lot of good jig tiers who all have something different they would throw in the mix good luck
Start by reading the sticky post at the top of this page. Then there are some very good lessons on line for fly tying, but how to tie different materials is the same so easy to do the same thing on jigs. The link to FAOL is in the sticky post above!
Once you do that asking questions would be next!

Thanks stump hunter been reading stickies and trying to get everything I need wrote down so I can get it organized in my mind. I'm pretty excited to get started.
Welcome to the hobby. Read all the stickies at the top of this forum and then search you yube for some fly tying videos. There are some posted in the stickies. Have fun and enjoy catching fish on what you created.
I'm a rookie too. I believe you'll find the folks on this forum are very friendly as well as helpful.
I've been given some really good advice so far. Like ship said I can't wait to get started and catch fish on my own jig. I'm excited about that.

Well finally broke down and ordered a vise and so e materials to get started. Everything is coming from Robert at crazy angler tackle. It should be here Wednesday at the latest. Here goes nothing.

I would pick one style of jig and practice until you can tie it in your sleep.
I would suggest the venerable marabou-and-chenille jig -- simple to tie and very effective.
