Probably my all time favorite was "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" followed closely by "Big Jake".
"Blazing Saddles" has to be up there also!!!!

High Noon for movie. Gunsmoke for tv series.
Don't miss 'Hell on Wheels' , been watching it since S1E1.. There's not an episode of Gunsmoke or the older 30 minute show of Matt Dillon that I haven't seen at least three times, some a dozen.. I record two of the old shows every day five days a week and one on Saturday.
I have read lots of L'Amour books and no they don't have pictures . I named my son Tatton after the charactor in Far Blows The Wind . The walking Drum is also a good one and all them Sacketts good reading .Quote:

I agree Lonesome Dove was the best mini series, Gunsmoke best weekly series, The Searchers was younger John Wayne best, Big Jake was his best in his later years, Josey Wales was Clint's best, Quigly Was Tom Selick's best, Hombre was Paul Newmans best, course all of these are JMO. No one mentioned Silverado. Tombstone ( I'm your Huckleberry ) is my favorite. The shootout in Open Range I watch every time I see it on TV. My favorite lines are from Quigley. "This ain't Dodge City and you ain't Bill Hickock." And "I said I never had much use for one. Never said I didn't know how to use it."
A great comedy western is Support Your Local Sheriff with James Garner.

Jeff Bridges and the little girl were great in that remake. I don't remember her name but she wern't taking no shoot off that hoss trader!It went by too fast. Wish it could have been made longer!
Man! Love a good 'favorite western' thread, :) ... pretty much anything Clint Eastwood is my favorite western, specifically the Outlaw Josey Wales, Unforgiven, High Plains Drifter, Joe Kidd and I like John Wayne's 'Big Jake' ... for favorite western series, how 'bout "Rawhide", eh?
Does 'Hidalgo' count as a western? Of all the newer cowboy-type movies, I like that one best ... Viggo Mortensen kinda' has that Clint-Eastwood aura about him in that one.
Well, I met Charles Starrett (The Durango Kid) in Caddo, Oklahoma when I was a kid and I ain't gonna ever forget it. Lash LaRue was a goodin' too.
But, yeah........I loved 'em spaghetti westerns too. Could this be a test?:dono
