Never mind...i just looked and the longest is a 12'

new to spider rigging myself thinking about buying them pinnicale rods also
Everyone has an opinion about this, mine is to always buy the best equipment you can easily afford. That being said it is hard to beat the B&M pro staff trolling poles, very good quality, a popular brand that everyone is accustomed, and will have a good resale value if you decide you do not care for spider rigging.
I understand exactly what you are saying Feesh but they are fairly pricey for a newbie.
Them pinnacle rods are some good starter rods and 4 12ft rods that work for 60 bucks ain't bad. If you really like Spider riggin then you will know better what you want in a pole and still have what I call loner poles for when you take someone else. I fish PST's but have a set of the pinnacles in the boat also and when they bitting real light I'd rather fish them. I also would look at those HT green lable jig poles in graphite/glass for around 18.00 for 3 at grizzly jig. They look like they might be a pretty good starter pole.
Go with the pinnacles, for a hundred bucks you can be fishing.Besides very few rods are made in America anyway.
go ahead and by the best you can to start with and if you decide spiderriggin is not for you (you will love it) it want be no problem to sell them !!!! i have a set of ozarks (8) 14ft and a set of capps & coleman (8) 14ft i would recommend either brand!!!!! it does take a little more get use to the c & c!!!! and the ozark has about the same tip as the c & c but more backbone!!!!
Thanks Meat...I fished with HandiCrappie yesterday and he has the Ozark rods and they are really nice but at $50+ per rod it is a bit much for me to chew on...
How much are those Hi Techs Jerry?

set of 6 works out to $40 each for some darn good poles. If you call him he may be able to do better on a set of 8 and some reels too.
Thanks Shine.
yep...wow
yep--when I went into it I went for it--got 6 c&c 14ft rods $45 bucks a peice:banghead but I knew I wanted to spider rig period and I have been pleased for sure. I saved on the reels--took them off of my drifting rods (aka bass rods) and haven't looked back. I basically went from catching zero fish this year to immediately catching strictly due to getting set up for spider rigging. I think you will like it.:twocents
thanks Cray and Big C
I use the BnM slow troll rods 16.5 foot. When I bought them, they were $12. per rod at Sportsmans. I have a few other brands that were $20 each. If fishing 12 foot deep, I can lift the fish into the boat. I don't reel the catch in, I keep the line set. I found some on craigslist with a cheap reel for $17. each
If you don;t spoend it now, you're gonna end up spending it. I went the cheap route to start with getting 10 and n 12 foot rods. Seems I have 10's and 12's laying round the house now cause I bought 6, 14 footers after I realized I needed them. 12's will work but if you're in shallow water, you'll spook the fish. Go ahead and bite the bullet and get 14 footers. B & M makes the BJGP in 14 which are good poles, then the ozarks are real good poles as well. The Capps n Colemans are good poles but are real limber. Some like em and some don;t. I do know that all the poles I listed are good poles and very durable. I've had 6-8 lb cats on Eagle lake on all of them and no problems
i use the B&M pst's for spider rigging and pulling cranks and have no complaints
I just got some Pinnacle rods for cranking and I wouldn't recommend them for that. First fish caught on one of the 12ftr the tip broke
If you wait a little while, you'll catch somebody selling some good used poles at a good deal. I'm like DD ( that's a scary thought) buy good ones and get it over with. You won't have to spend the money twice that way. If DD has 12'ers layin around, he might give ya a deal on em tho!!!! ;-)

I have to keep a pack of replacement tops for my rods.
Hate to here you had trouble and bet it was a defect in the rod itself, have caught a ton of fish on the Pinnacles with no probs. Everyone one of em make break this afternoon. If it was the first time out I would call Pinnacle or either Grizzly and see if there is something they will do about it.
X2. Great for both.

Pinnacles are good for the money, pst's work fine but I believe you miss some of the light bites, c and c's have great sensitivity but zero backbone and last but not least the Ozarks have a sensitive tip with plenty of backbone. Don't ask me how I know but if you buy them in sets of 12 about $2000 will let you find out:)

Buy them once---------------------- b/m prostaff------------------final answer .
Duck i'm helping Slabin get setup for slow trolling now.He is buying 4 pinnacles and 4 reels and barely has a $100 in it.And like I told him he can always use those for guests if he wants to upgrade. And like i said before most are coming out of the same factory, with just a different name stamped on them.Good luck.
Don't try the Ozarks then cause u will break your rule of only buying one set.

This is what 24 fourteen foot trolling rods look like. PST's don't have reels but the Ozarks do:) It really comes down to personal preference and there are a lot of good choices out there but I believe the Ozarks have the best combo of both sensitivity and backbone. I will get off my soap box now but I know a lot of people have never had a chance to use em and I'm just trying to help get the word out.

How big of a deal is a 12' rod vs a 14' rod vs a 16' rod?
Yep you are right Handi...those rods are nice and I guess I got spoiled with them Monday on our great excursion to Sardis.
I fished 12's for years, caught lots of fish. I use 14's now, gives me a wider spread. `
ive used the b&m westpoint crappie pole for years..........its fiberglass, but with a litter stiffer tip, which i like. 25 bucks or so, at grizzly and wally world. ive had no problems with them. maybe not as sensitive as graphite, but very adequate for trolling. they're up to 12 ft. only, which i think are plenty long.
Pinnacle vertex on a budget. Bgjp or c and c's iffen ya want to do the full Monty.
Wannabe...
