In Randall's defense Buckwheat wasn't there to bail him out.
And ya'll probably saw right. I think that one on the end is either a bass or a drum. We didn't own a boat until I was 14 so it was fishing the way fishing was meant to be. He taught me lots about fishing about being quiet and not shadowing the fishing hole. How to rake up night crawlers on the river and and belly crawl up to the creek banks and catch those small mouth that had come out of spring river up the creeks. He taught me how to find bream beads and the right places to string a trotline. He taught me that bobbers were for sissies and anything that couldn't be caught on a Zebco and a worm didn't need to be caught anyway. He taught me about truth, and life, and gave me my first lesson in geometry when I asked him at 12 years old how to cut rafters for a house. He tried to teach me how to shoot like he did, and I never mastered that. He taught me it was a sin to squirrel hunt with a shotgun and that doves were birds of peace and not to be shot. He taught me how to build rabbit gums and that Sundays were a day of rest. He taught me not to waste what I shot or caught and to share with others not so fortunate. He showed me the fun of not pulling the trigger and watching the magic of nature take its course. It's been 8 years and 3 months since I've seen him, but the memories are like yesterdays.
Wealth doesn't come form money it is passed on through knowledge! Thanks !!!!!!
