Fresh Meat

Hello All,
My name is Postalmule,(Letter Carrier for 34 years).Hung up the mail bag the first of the year.Anyway I
am coming out of the shadows,so to speak. I have been watching your board for sometime, but never had
anything to contribute. Well now that the house is mostly done, I have refurbished my old Landau boat and am ready to install rod holders. My question is ,should I setup to push or pull to troll, or both,and why? I won't
ask for honey holes ,or anything like that,as I have fished my whole life in FL.(saltwater) so I know how that goes. But ,this Speck fishing is all new to me.

Just the opposite.......Troll 99.99% of time and rest the other .01

Well, on my old boat I had the trolling motor mounted on the back, seems like the bow always
wanted to vere off to the right or left = always having to correct etc, etc, etc ...
So, on my new boat I had the trolling motor on the front, and thought that would be better,
as it would be pulling and the back would always follow = that didn't work any better,
the trolling motor I got would always take off right or left when I left it alone = always have to correct.
I am of the opinion that having it on the front is better, but it's easy to control with the front deck I got
now = would've been a real pain in my old boat (no front deck), etc ............................

I find that the steering problem is how the boat is loaded.
If you are moving around on the boat, you are shifting the load and this will cause the erratic movement of the boat when moving forward with the trolling motor.
Just my :twocents.

:welcome Just mount rod holders all around the boat, when you have 3-4 rods bent over at the same time you will know what works.

Join us at lake Talquin on November 10th. Lots of boats and different setups. Good info shared and especially, the food and knowledge.

That means that he's pretty smart. Many Many....to many years to mention of experience led me to that conclusion. Your are right, if you catch lots of fish like I do, then the ratio is 99.95 trolling to .05 resting. I do need little more rest.....especially at Talquin!!!!!

Thanks for all the input. Probably will put 2 bases in the back and 2 in the front. Then make 2 tees that I can move where wanted. I am making the Talquin Super Slabfest a goal. Would be great to put faces to the names. Do people camp,rent rooms
or what?
