Have the same problem as an intermittant, seems to be in the power cable where it plugs into the head, WD40 helps sometimes and a 'wiggle' helps sometimes. Think its corrosion from boat setting out in the rain.--shu
Ours is not in the rain. I did try cleaning the plugs and applying a thin film of dilectric "grease" and thought that fixed it as it worked for about 3 hours nonstop but now back to its old tricks again. Wiggling the cables doesn't do a thing for it. Thanks for the response!
Might be the other end of the connection Sis. Or it could be from non use of c.c.
Wannabe...
Have same problem, "GPS module not responding." Called them and they said I could send it in, they could charge me $60 bench fee and send it back with nothing wrong or I could just buy a new puck somewhere (not made anymore) or I could trade it up to the next best model for 3billion bucks. They didn't seem surprised at the problem and offered nothing to help. On the bright sde it did work for 1 season. Last one I purchase... ever.nonono
Yeah, bet this will fix it lickety split. NOT!~ Had a smaller Lowrance on the front. Removed it's puck, plugged in on this one and Voila! It works. So I need another puck that works. (Hey I figured that out ALL by myself!!! :Rofl) LGC 3000 with a red connector is what is currently not working. What can I use as a replacement? Preferable a NEW part!
Thanks!
PS How can I tell it's really you, WB...?
In account of me being the purtiest brother you got.
Check out lei extras website, it's lowrance direct.

I thought it might be but wasn't sure and could find the info. Glad ya got it worked out. Them things do go bad and you have no way to test it other than swapping to a known good one.
Come home! They being mean to me again.

A: There have been sightings of UFOs.
A 3-legged dog walks into a saloon in the Old West. He slides up to the bar and says:
"I'm looking for the man who shot my paw."
What is the difference between a woman and a magnet?
Magnets have a positive side!
Thats what im talkin about. Thanks CN.
UH, It worked when we tried the above, but then when we got out on the water and turned on the unit, no GO. The screen shows it has 12 volts. The sonar works, but has gone back to the GPS module not responding message. After the unit was on almost four hours it picked up GPS for about two hours and lost it again. Any ideas?
I had a hand held doing that. I restored factory default settings and that fixed it. Also make sure you have current software in it. It should be 2.5.0
If I remember correctly a hard reboot restores factory settings.
Hard reset restores defaults and also removes waypoints.
I have the same unit and it will not power up. Changed power cord, cleaned contacts, still does not come on.
The sonar part works great. How can I tell if the terminator is bad? The more details you have for me, the better. :)
Currently we have LGC 3000 with a red connector.
A buddy has one a few years newer and the back of his monitor is totally different with "fins" on the back for cooling. We do have overheating issues with it if the sun is out and it's glaring off the windshield. But all these issues are happening when the monitor is shaded. The puck is out in the open, though.
Google up Lowrance NMEA2000 wiring.
You also have to make sure the NMEA2000 network is powered. Check the power wiring in the Lowrance NMEA2000 pdf.
Just got your comment:
Cane Pole, would a bad terminator still allow the GPS to connect from time to time? Yesterday we were on the lake for about 6 hours and had the unit on the entire time. About four hours into the trip, it acquired and lost GPS signal about six times within 2 mins, then re-acquired it and kept the signal for almost an hour. Then lost it again and never regained the signal.
Does a terminator show it's bad like a fuse? Or do I have to test it somehow?
Thank you!
The terminator is a 120 ohm resistor. It seldom goes bad. I would disconnect/connect all the NMEA network connectors and check for good connections. Lots of problems stem for bad/loose connections. I t has been my experience over the years that molded cables suck. The tend to break internally near the connector, thus producing intermittent operation. This occurs more often when you connect/reconnect the cables on a regular basis. Troubleshooting intermittent problems suck. Tech support folks provide "guesswork" answers. They don't know the exact fix.
If you are at the Ky Lake or Miss Fall get togethers, I will be there. I will bring stuff, including terminators, and I can probably fix it by elimination. Don't buy a lot of chit you don't need.
The red connectors were always a problem with moisture, that's why they changed to all blue connectors.
