great read
loved it!absolutely!
Special K has written many great articles just like this one. If you missed any of them, you can find them here:

Every one if them is a masterpiece.
I really appreciate all of the support that the Crappie Fishing 101 ~ For Newbies ~ series of articles has received from all of you both on the Home Page and on the Boards. It means a great deal to me to know the work is appreciated. I wish all of you the best of luck.
Very good read
Excellent job, my friend ! Having read #10 now, I think I'll go back and read the first 9 !! Crappie have a way of making "newbies" out of even some of us longtime pursuers, and we sometimes get in a rut on how we "want" to fish for them ... rather than how they want to be fished for:Doh:
Anything that gives us anglers a "reminder" or a new idea, on how to approach various scenarios & conditions, is a worthy read.
The whole 10 part series should probably be a stickie post in the Newbie Forum, or at least a link to it. Might even be a good idea to stickie it in the Kids Korner ... either as is, or in a condensed & simplified form.
Congrats on a fine article !! I'm sure it will help our membership understand these fish better, as to the when & why of their movements & actions.
... cp
Thanks for taking the time to write this series of articles!! I am always trying to learn something I didn't know, or have possibly forgotten.
Thanks for the response and the kind words crappiepappy. I would have to agree with you that crappie fishing can be most humbling because of their endless migratory and transitioning natures. I guess that's why I was so drawn to crappie fishing many years ago when I found myself often scratching my head when faced with many finding, patterning and catching challenges that I have continuously had over the course of time.
I actually tried to write the series in such a way that it would (hopefully) be good information for (both) the newbies and the more seasoned crappie fishers alike. I'm glad you found it to be a good and informative read that you believe is worthy of keeping around as a resource material, so folks can easily find it and access it whenever they need some practical or seasonal reading.
Thanks again for your feedback and good luck to you.
Thanks for taking the time to respond Redge. Writing these articles is certainly no easy undertaking... especially a 10 part series. It truly makes it all worth the time and effort when people take the time to let me know how much they enjoyed the articles... and especially when they tell me how the articles helped them to get on the fish when they had previously been struggling with it. Good luck to you and please let me know if the information helped you in any way.
Lots and lots of good reading. When I first came to C.C. I thought I knew quite a bit about crappie fishing. It didn't take me long to realize I really didn't know much and articles like yours continues to emphasize that. Keep up the good work. I'm still trying to learn.
WOW! Im a newbie myself (2nd year) and you have just multiplied my crappie knowledge 1,000 fold.....im printing it out and putting it in tackle box! Thank you brother!
Thanks for the response and the kind words about the Crappie Fishing 101 for Newbies Series, Barnacle Bill. We all are constantly learning and the great thing about Crappie.com is... we can and should pool and share our talents, skills, tips, tactics and techniques one with the other. That idea is what has led me and kept me here. Again, support and appreciation like you have shown is what makes it all worth it to me. Good luck to you on the water.
Great information! Very happy that someone felt like sharing. Seams the more I read the more I like it! Thanks
Appreciate the comments speckslayer. I don't how everyone else feels about it, but to me sharing the knowledge that the Good Lord has given a man is just how He intended it to be. I get a whole lot of satisfaction out of crappie fishing and doing the articles... especially when some percentage of the readers take the time to respond and send their appreciation for my sharing the information with them. Thank you and Good luck to you.
Hey Special K,
Thank you for taking the time to write and share this article.
Old timer here, moved to Florida just over a year ago, trying to learn how to catch these Crappies. Remember fishing with my Grandfather for Crappies up North, but only in the early spring, and from the banks as we had no boat.
I definitely will reread this article, many times !
Regards,
pescador
I started my crappie fishing education three years ago by reading everything related to crappie, attending seminars, fishing with guides, camps, and fishing two days a week, but this article ties everything I have learned together and leaving application to be properly performed.
Thank you!!!!
I appreciate it pescador and Speck Beck that you enjoyed and appreciate the article. I hope you gained a little something from it that will help you put more fish in the live-well and bring you more confidence and enjoyment while doing it. May God Bless
