Can I get on my unit and search any of the lakes on my mapping card and get screenshots of just the lake contours? My boat seat isn't near as comfortable as the desk chair. It would also be nice to be able to see them on a 23" screen.

Never thought about it,but I dont see why not. It should take a pic of anything on the screen and load to an SD card. I think there is a way to view the map card on a puter, but I think you need something special from Navionics. You really need to get with Rickie on this ,he is the expert.
I purchased the Navionics PC app for my PC ($20) and with it you can view any lake, add WPs and download to a clean SD chip and then upload to your DF. I think the Navionics card is write protected and I never could get it to read on my PC anyway. but the Navionics App works well.

Navionics does have a pc app and yes you can use your card to look at any map on your unit and take screenshots
This is the link to the PC app: http://www.navionics.com/maillist/PC...eu%20(ENG).pdf

Are you saying you can read the Navionics mapping card on your PC? I could not get it to come up. Is there software you have to download in order to read the card? That is why I bought the app, I could not read the card itself.

Good Job.
OK help this dummy out. Are you saving screenshots to an SD card on your DF and then loading the SD card to your PC? I always have the Navionics chip in mine when I am on the water so I never tried to load a screen image to a card and move to my PC.

Everyone's advice has been right on as far as I can tell...
Just to elaborate a little..
The HB screenshot is just that... An actual screenshot of everything showing on the screen (including menus if you have any open)...
Filletfetish.. In your question... (and this is "if" your HB unit has the "Screenshot to SD Card" feature)..(not all HB units do)...
*Insert SD card (of course)...
*Select a chart view...
*Use the minus (-) button on the unit face to zoom out to a zoom level that will encompass your target area to be viewed...(even if you are wanting to view a different lake that is included on your mapping card's region....just keep zooming out until the target area shows on the screen)....
*Hit the 4-way cursor to activate the cursor...
*Use the 4-way cursor to navigate the cursor to the target area of the lake you want to examine...
*Use the plus (+) button on the unit face to zoom in to a zoom level that you want to see..
*Hit the "Mark" button on the unit face to take the snapshot..(screenshot has to be enabled under the "Accessories" tab in the Main Menu System)...
*(This will also place a waypoint where the cursor is on the chart so you may or may not want to delete the waypoint... Sorry.. You cannot take a snapshot without making a waypoint also)...
The screenshots are automatically saved directly to the SD card in the .png format which can be viewed by most any computer picture viewer...
I know very little about the Navionics NavPlanner program because I haven't used it...(it's on my to-do list tho...:) )...

The only downside to viewing HB screenshots on a pc is that viewing is all you can do with it...
If you want to have functionality with your mapping card in the house...(and your unit supports "Video Out")...
Get 1 of these.... Walmart Mobile
Cut the female cigarette plug off and wire in one of these... PC 11 :: Humminbird (dont forget the 3 amp fuse in the positive wire)
Also get one of these.... VC 1 :: Humminbird
Now plug the "Video Out" RCA plugs into your home flat screen TV and view your maps, mark waypoints on your maps, construct routes on your maps, view snapshots and recordings from inserted SD cards, change settings on the unit...(my 1197 probably has as many hours running in the house on AC as it does running on the boat in DC)...
(I still like Humviewer better for viewing recordings because of the better forward/reverse speeds capablility and the "Show waypoints in Google Earth" feature in Humviewer)....
Rickie
SeaRay... Check your unit specs to see if it supports "Screen Snapshot to Memory Card"...(I think there are a few HB models that support Navionics mapping cards but do not have the "Screen Snapshot to Memory Card" feature)...
http://www.humminbird.com/
(navigate to your unit and then click on the "Features" tab in the lower right)...(also check in your unit user manual)..

If you have a newer Navionics card you can get a free app. to install the card on your PC. After doing this you can put the card back in the fish finder and view the lakes on the computer. Here is a screen capture of the canal area of Ky and Barkley lakes on my laptop.

Rickie, you never cease to amaze me. Tell me somehow you've got it linked into a 60" HD screen somewhere!?
Ricky, what version Navionics do you have?
Hotmaps premium East
here's one-very basic-the internal map though (nav chip wasn't in)
