Are they worth the money??
i believe they are no doubt the finest coolers on the market, BUT, you can buy a freezer for what most of them cost. i can buy a lot of ice and cheap coolers for that. If you ever see me with one you will know i found it in a yard sell or something
Big H, I have a icey-tek which yeti bought out.I didnt pay what yeti is asking now but I will say this, its one hell of a cooler specially in this heat.It will keep your drinks:cheers2 cold for a couple days in this heat. The water in the cooler stays cold for a while after that.Worth it I cant say but I like mine.Plus very rugged.
Been thinking on one.....I use a cooler all the time in Summer time just thinking it might take awhile to pay for its self but it would with ice now 1.50 a bag at most C-stores.
buy a igloo and freeze 2 liter coke bottles
yeti's are tough but if cold and the ice is your main objective they are not worth the money. I have a 7 day igloo that keeps ice longer than the yeti, it is not as durable but 70 bucks for a 150 quart at sam's the igloo is worth it to me...my .02
I agree with Feesh. We were looking at them at Garys in Columbus last weekend. Man Feesh and I said same thing you can by a darn fridge or freezer for what the big ones cost. That bein said we got a buddy thats got 2 of them and he iced drinks down on July 3 and with the cooler setting in the shade it kept ice for at least 4 days. I just cant make myself pull the trigger on that kinda money. Jerkn Meat is ther a site or link you can post to look at these icey tek you talkin bout?
I have heard people say the K2 coolers are just like the Yeti's but about 100-150 cheaper
I have a K2 on order. They use the K2 on Swamp People.
A lot of the off-shore guys use Yeti's because of their durability. I certainly can't see the justification for one myself.
i've heard of the k2's, but never seen one. surely someone out there has some first hand knowledge about them
We had one at work that stayed in the back of truck... Kept ice for 24hrs with no problem.
The thing would be great if you couldn't buy ice, say like you were camping and no store near by.
But I can buy a igloo and a lot of ice for what that thing cost.
Yes they are cheaper. I got the Cube 75 coming. I'll post Pic.s when I get it.
I have a Igloo Extreme...60 quart.....I know it will hold ice for 5 days no problem. Very inexpensive at Sam's.......Been using it for 7 years now and still looks good and works good.
I have two of these, but I can't get 5 days with mine in the house, much less in the heat. Maybe 3 if I don't get in it much. Lol

I saw a review on youtube a while back where the had 5 extreme type coolers inlcuding yeti and a couple other high dollar coolers. The tested all of them under the same conditions at the same time and the Coleman extreme recieved the highest review for keeping ice the longest and for the best value.
I thought hard about one until I watched this video. Check it out High End Cooler Test by SportsmanGuys.com
No specific site I just googled it and look at bout 75 sites before i found mine for $135. 40 qaurt will hold over 30 beverages
We freeze 2-liter bottles and milk jugs in a regular igloo cooler and it works great. no need in spending that much money IMO.
I got the same one triton does and on my last trip to the coast i put 4 bags of ice in it friday n added each days catch to it. On sunday afternoon the ice had bearly melted at all. Its a 7 day cooler n out of tge 10ish coolers i have its by far the best at keeping ice.150 quart so it holds alot
Yea they are worth it. I use a 65qt to store my minnows in while in the boat. I drilled a hole in the top of it for my oxygen hose
Before I drilled a hole in my yeti, I would of bought one of these...

x2 but all he needs is the pass thru. He said oxygen not air. Two entirely different things.
Would the outside color of the cooler have an affect as to how long it will keep ice? Say an all white versus a white and blue bottom. White being the most reflective seems to me would stay cooler inside longer. Also, it seems that the old styrofoam cooler hold ice way long, if you could just manage to keep a lid on one more than a few minutes. That Yeti is an investment for sure!
OLD GEEZER FISHERMEN NEVER DIE, THEY JUST SMELL THAT WAY!!
I got a coleman extreme 5 years ago and was extremely pleased with it. I lost the top on Grenada lake somehow and replaced it with a new Coleman extreme 5, 52 quart. The new one is a little different, more insulation in the newer model. I put about 20 lbs of ice in it on monday and on thursday I am down to a few cubes of ice. Put in another 20 pounds on Thursday and my beer stays cold till Monday when I put more ice in it. I keep my cooler drained of water, because I do not want to keep water cold. I keep the cooler in the back of my truck in the direct sunlight all day. I paid 32.50 from Wal-Mart on line. I caught it on sale on the internet. Since I only paid 32.50 for the cooler I can ride it in the back of my truck and not worry. If I had a YETI the same size I would have to lock it down some way, because that would be a 350+ dollar cooler.
YETI is an excellent cooler. If you are on a long camping/huntingexpedition or on a canoe trip for a few days, it may be worth it. They are also extremely tough and rugged, but for the money I would get 5 Coleman extreme 5's, 1000 pounds of ice over time and take my old lady out for a good steak dinner and a movie and still have about 20 bucks left over in my pocket.
Just buy it Big H. You will like it.
I usually carry 5 to 8lbs of bait when im fishing a tourny and the lid on the other brands of coolers will not seal completly and water will splash out during the day. On the Yeti coolers, the lid has a rubber seal around the inside of the lid that seals it shut so water dont get all over me and everything in my boat. That is a big plus.
Yea i have used 5lbs of minnows several times and I sure dont want to run out when im fishing in a tournament. If im going somewhere to pre-fish for a week, I will usuall take about 20lbs with me and keep them at my hotel and get what I need out each day to fish with.
Dang. Just do what G3T does and have Minnertroller sit on the dang Coleman and save yourself 300 bucks. 'sides, that's mostly all a partner is good for anyhow....except in Triton's case, but not in except of April's case.
Wannabe...
See if I bait your hooks anymore
You guys have obviously missed the point. There is no doubt that Yeti makes a great cooler and they are expensive when compared to some others. But they are intended to be a status symbol and a great, expensive cooler.:biggrin Kinda like a Rolex. You can buy a watch from Walmart that keeps better time for less than $10 but that's not the point. These bad boys are for folks that have more money than sense. You can't hide money and this is just another way to show it.Rofl
i have a igloo, i decided to by tools instead of a fancy cooler cause i got to work on everything i own cause its all junk but i did buy a 570 di in february does that make me rich
I am a bachelor and I bought a 75 quart because I can.
We use it mostly for trips where we are going to be gone for a few days or we're going to need a lot of ice. Part of what makes these work is to eliminate a good amount of air space. Keeping that in mind, I would use a 45 more, but I bought this one for long trips and such. A 45 quart is next on the list.
When we get back from those trips, the cooler is usually still 2/3 or more full of ice, so I'll drag it over to the living room and use it as a beer cooler until the ice runs out. That can sometimes take a week inside.
Another great use for it is a second fridge during Thanksgiving and Christmas and such. A couple of frozen 2 liters and a defrosting turkey will keep the cooler plenty cool enough for casseroles and such. I guess it also makes the eyesore of a giant beer cooler in the middle of the living room bearable because she doesn't really get on to me about it.
The biggest drawback is the weight. Sucker is heavy.
