You boys down there make sure you zip those life jackets every time that big motor is runnin. We lost 3 men up here this week. Two on Truman, and one on Smithville. None of them had a lifejacket on.

What happened?? Were they running in good light???
Always
They arn't sure about either yet. The 2 on Truman were both experienced on the water. The one on Smithville was 72 and a very strong swimmer according to his family. All 3 bodies have been recovered.

Very good advice Hunter....its also a good idea to hook your kill switch up also.
Thanks for the reminder. Ordered new cartridges for the inflatables. Sorry to hear about the fatalities.

Hate to hear that.I have auto inflatable vest and i test and recharge every spring. Dont take it off until i am back on the ramp, and dont start the motor until kill switch is attached.
I wear mine and hook up kill switch... I just wonder if either of them were using a terova and boat ran off and left them?
Hate to hear that, Some good advice about kill switch and life jackets.
not me. I wear it when I have to or if I'm in the river and the waters up. Kinda like a seatbelt. I don;t wear em unless I have to
Good advice, I wear an inflatable belt all the time I'm on the water.
We were fishing Enid once with some of my dads co-workers from Sears when 2 of them in a Ranger running flat out hit a log that was water logged and barely under the surface. It threw both of them out and just about all their tackle. They both had on vests, thank God, but no kill switch. That boat almost ran over one of them when it started going in a circle. Luckly when the one driving was going out, he hit the throttle and slowed it to a idle almost, or there's no telling where that boat might have ended up!Some of the others that were following them were able to save them and get the boat stopped! A kill switch is a life saver and ought to be a law!!!
