i got one last year, liked it so much i just added a second to the front. though it would be nice to have the larger screen, i keep my si range on 105' and it works well for me.
I also bought one for console and liked it so much I bought another for the bow and networked them together...I love the set up.
Do either of you use a transducer shield on the Trolling Motor?
i don't.
I have two, like them and have the transducer shield for the TM ducer.
btw they are coming out with an upgrade in december, if you can wait, I'd recommend buying the newer model.
It has a better screen, LED backlit display.
Yeah, Faadan, you should def wait and confirm when you purchase that you are getting the new screen. You will be able to view a lot better in sunlight. The current model gets a lot of complaints from actual users.
There are work arounds and it is usable, but yes it is a complaint among users.
Agreed, either way, get a Ram mount. I don't care what it is, if there's glass, there will be glare to some extent under the right conditions.
Thanks guys, I can wait.
it should also make the older screen models go on sale, the si and di in direct sunlight with no shade cover can be a bit hard to see though the 2d isn't, a raptor cap helps as does adjusting the angle of the unit.
I had some reflection problems with my Lowrance Elite 5 DSI. Is the 898 worse that the Lowrance?
The changes they made, which will become available at the first of the year, will make them very similar. As of right now and older units, the 898's will be a problem in sun.
I haven't used that Lowrance model. I just wanted to say that I currently own two 898's and will not be upgrading to the new units. With my raptor caps and ram mounts, I am able to manage with these. But, if I was in the market for new units and knew that a better screen was coming in a few months, then I would wait.
