In hunting, if you can shoot, you can hunt.
In fishing, there is no primary skill so experience is knowledge. Hence all the B.S. still that doesn't mean all knowledge is invalid but is does bear out under experience.
I sometimes think the real fishing is done in the bait shop by the lure manufactures with the fishermen selecting their lures. That's when the hook is set, the rest is just eventual. But I'm a newbie, and will certainly be proved wrong at some point, I am sure.
I like to eat what I catch or kill. So for hunting I go for game birds or rabbits, deer is too much trouble and for the cost per pound I'd rather eat fillet mignon.
But pan fishing, now there's something worth the effort, both in enjoyment of the capture and in the eating.
