I been wondering how an umbrella would work single poling. Ill have one if it works!
If an umbrella will make me catch fish like crappie pro and dblevens, I'll try one.
I like my 542. Perfect size for one person. With 2 people, it can be crowded at times. Especially if the other person is catching all the fish:biggrin
THAT looks like the perfect Lake Conway boat.
They work great DB... but remember to watch for wasp nest if your fishing trees. Wasp dont like a umbrella bumping into thier tree limb too much. Trust me I know. LOL
Besides my Stick Steering boat I would have to say my Maximizer. With it, I can slow my trolling motor so slow I can be super stealthy in shallow brushpiles. If there are a few that have never seen one of these they were produced by Minn-Kota over 20 years ago and sold then for 100.00 at Bass Pro. With this any trolling motor could be made into an infinite speed control. There are still a few available now and then on E-Bay some still new in the box.

WOW!!! thats a kool looking piece of machinery SB. Never seen one before.
Thanks CP, I have found 2 over the years still brand new in the box on E-Bay. They have been out of production for over 20 years now. We found CrappieKeeper a new one for his boat back in '07 or '08 and we just won another "new in the box" one the other day as a back-up to either one of ours. If you can find a new one now expect to pay between 125.00 and 150.00 for it. Seen a lot of used ones that don't look to bad either
My understanding was that the new trolling motors have that built in.
I would hate to give up my Terrova I-Pilot
Hawrule, you my kind od man.

Think that maximizer was intended to increase battery life by converting steady current flow into pulses. Seemed to work pretty good!Had one years ago until it played out and I bought a newer trolly motor!
OLD GEEZER FISHERMEN NEVER DIE, THEY JUST SMELL THAT WAY!!
Well, I'd have to say my most treasured posession for crappie fishing would be the Ranger I bought last year. I longline troll 99% of the time and the step from a 16' flatbottom Carolina Skiff to the deep-V Ranger 681 was one of my smartest moves. 'Course all that wouldnt be as good without GPS and I-pilot.Thumbs Up
LOL Now that's a Big Bang Theory, Super nice setup, boat and Pics, Thanks for shareing GABOWMAN!!!
Nice rig for sure GabowMan!Gonna have to get me one of them Terrova's some day!

I would have to say that I don't own my favorite peice of equipment yet. MRS DP has not taken the hint, but, we need a Cajon Fryer like Steve had at the spring camp. May be a 2 fer will do instead of a 3 fer. I have cooked on one twice since the Spring camp. They sure make it a lot easier on the cook.

Mine would have to be google earth. I like finding the out of the way places.
I have a Maximizer from the 70's or 80's. Will it work on a 12/24 trolling motor or a straight 24 volt motor? I need to get slower on my tm.
Hmmmm, That's like all the pieces of the body arguing over which is most important. All of it is my favorite for the day, but the time I get to spend on the water has to be my favorite.
The most valuable addition I have ever made to my fishing arsenal is the quality depth/fish finders available today. I have a Humminbird 597 ci HD DI with the transducer on the transom and a 587 ci HD DI with the transducer on the trolling motor. The ability to save way-points and go back to them, see a very good facsimile of whats under the boat and see fish has greatly increased my catch, and using these tools is fun all by itself. BTW you probably won't see the HB 587 with DI in the fishing catalogs or even listed on the HB web-site. I found mine at Academy Sports.
Fatrap, I can't answer that question but I was wondering myself if it would work on a 24 volt system. I would definately ask someone that might know before you try it.
Good Luck,
Dave
what yall said.
Only one made. I always seemed to do better with this on the bow.
HAHA!!! there is sooo much cover on the bottom of Lake Nimrod, It's confusing my GPS. I Got to hand it to you all out there on your builds... I find so many good pieces of cover out there...ALL OVER!!! I just start fishing em as I come to em... and i never haft to go far to find cover to fish. Great Job adding habitat...and that spot looks familar CA. LOL
russ better be carefull on nimrod fishing cover unless you have permission !!!! i hear they pull pistols on folks over them tops and stake beds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite piece of equipment is my jigging pole. Brings my fish in and doubles as my depth finder!
Hey, I was just going to pull up on another local who had some buoys out and visit. I was pretending to GPS his spot and was reaching back to throw a big barbell buoy into his spot. I guess he fired off a "large firecracker" or something!:yikes I dropped everything and showered down and left. We had fun with it for a few days.
