I am new to the game of trolling and i would appreciate any help.
Back em till there is a little over an 8th of an inch left till full. Dont fill em SLAM full when you finish em out, close but not slam full. I only have 5 or 6 hundred feet of my cranking line on top of the filler. break of a couple of times and I re-line.
thanks Rees. What kind of line do you use as a backer?
Doesnt matter really, just something laying around from the green carp days, 20 pound is good cause it fills quicker. When you finish em out try to keep em all close to the same, that way your counters will be pretty close together.
good deal...what do you use a primary line for crankin?
I use 10 pound hi-vis Mr Crappie, alot of folks use a braid but I mainly pull in clean water so I dont have alot of hang ups.
Thanks Rees! I am trying to get all of my stuff lined up before my new boat shows up.
I have the 15's but this is what I did. I zeroed the counter. Then I filled the spool with backing. Then using the counter for a reference I took 300' off reeling on to a diffrent reel. After removing the 300' of line I noted what the counter read. Then I spooled on the line I was using.
The next reel I just spooled on the backing untill I reached the number noted on the previous reel. Then added my main line. Repeated on all other reels. Worked for me.

I bought 6 of the 20dx a few months ago.. I didnt use any backn, but i can yell u from experience that they do NOT count right unless they are fully spooled. About 1/8" from rim is what directions say. I just spooled mine all with 10lb hi vis mr crappie, but will use backing next time
If he can check his pm's I left him my phone #. I can explain it better on the phone.

I'm using spider wire... It cost me $60 to put 100 yards on 6 reels

Yeah... My first trip, i only had them about 1/2 spooled. I fished with 120 feet of line out, came home and measured the 120 feet, and it was actually only 75 feet... Spooled them full and they were on the money!!
Yep, using braid I would definately back em.
Thanks for the information everyone and it was good talking to you Gator_1.
